The story kept my interest and I thought the reader did a great job. I also learned a lot about art and the art market that I didn't know.

My attention never wavered through the entire book. Fleas delivery was perfect.
It's worth it to read the book just to find all the great music you haven't listened to and all the great music you have, but you've forgotten about.
I recommend this book.

Any book written by Barbara Mertz will get the archeology right. But this is also one of her funniest books.
I like it enough for repeat listening on long road trips.

An excellent read of an interesting life
Revisado: 09-27-22
I enjoy biographies but this one stands out. Lafayette the man is interesting, the times he lived in are interesting and the author ties the people and the historical epoch together to create a great tale.
I had no idea how little I knew about to Lafayette's history outside of the American revolution.
I expected a good reading from the man who created the History podcast, this was an excellent reading. That's not always true when an author reads their own book.
I will be listening to this one again.

Historia
Orwell's own experiences inspire this semi-autobiographical novel about a man living in Paris in the early 1930s without a penny. The narrator's poverty brings him into contact with strange incidents and characters, which he manages to chronicle with great sensitivity and graphic power. The latter half of the book takes the English narrator to his home city, London, where the world of poverty is different in externals only.

This was more of a journalist report than a story. I was interested in the life he experienced while out of money but there was no plot.
The reader did a great job. The dry delivery made it an enjoyable listen.

This is what you would call, a relican good time! If you enjoy Douglas Adams you will enjoy this. The theatrical performance aspects are wonderful, but sometimes the sound effects overwhelm the dialogue.
Still, a great lesson.
This recording includes added features. They describe how this got made and include interviews with Douglas Adams, himself. Priceless!

A stunningly lyrical firsthand account of a life spent hunting, studying, and living alongside caribou, A Thousand Trails Home encompasses the historical past and present day, revealing the fragile intertwined lives of people and animals surviving on an uncertain landscape of cultural and climatic change sweeping the Alaskan Arctic. Author Seth Kantner vividly illuminates this critical story about the interconnectedness of the Iñupiat of Northwest Alaska, the Western Arctic caribou herd, and the larger Arctic region.

Historia
In ancient Rome, all the best stories have one thing in common - murder. In one 50-year period, 26 emperors were murdered. But what did killing mean in a city where gladiators fought to the death to sate a crowd? In A Fatal Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Emma Southon examines a trove of real-life homicides from Roman history to explore Roman culture, including how perpetrator, victim, and the act itself were regarded by ordinary people. Inside ancient Rome’s darkly fascinating history, we see how the Romans viewed life and death and what it means to be human.

Witty Social History
Revisado: 01-16-22
It is easy to take our own moral framework and project it back in history. We tend to think there are universal truths, what is always right, and what is always wrong. I really learned a lot from this book.
But just as importantly, this was a great read. The writing was witty and the delivery was perfect.

Historia
Provence, 1970 is about a singular historic moment. In the winter of that year, more or less coincidentally, the iconic culinary figures James Beard, M.F.K. Fisher, Julia Child, Richard Olney, Simone Beck, and Judith Jones found themselves together in the South of France. They cooked and ate, talked and argued, about the future of food in America, the meaning of taste, and the limits of snobbery.
