Historia
My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails. Then Selene showed up. According to some magical code I inherit my aunt's ancient familiar; a grumpy 10-pound cat with a broken filter.

Cute Cozy Mystery
Revisado: 05-05-24
This is an easy fun read, although it's kind of predictable Ms Garrett does leave you guessing a bit. I've listened to a lot of books Amanda Ronconi narrated and enjoy her performances for the most part. The only problems I have with her is that when she performs the parts of men she sometimes makes them sound like whiny jerks. For example, when Ms. Ronconi does the voice of the ex-husband she it makes him sound like a jerk although he wasn't I automatically disliked him. When she is doing the part of a guy who is a dick her performance is fantastic.

I miss the fun
Revisado: 06-24-22
Listen, I love Kim Harrison's Hollow series. I'm ecstatic that she decided to go past book 13 which was supposed to be her final book. I miss the fun, there's always life and death drama but there was always laugh out loud fun, the last couple books have lacked that, this one was just depressing. I miss all the characters together, although she did introduce a great new character that potentially will lead to a new and interesting story line. But there are a few people that were barely even mentioned, some not mentioned at all. I've listened to the series many times, I may not listen to this one again until right before book 17 is released. Kim Harrison said she's going to keep writing until she catches up the fabulous ending of A Witch With No Name. PS I wish there was a way to somehow bring back Ceri.

Always a fan!
Revisado: 06-24-21
My heart was broke when it was announced that book 13, The Witch With No Name was going to be the final book. Imagine my surprise and delight when Kim Harrison wrote two more Rachel Morgan books. Although I wish there was a book of the continuation of book 13, Million Dollar Demon was not my favorite but I still loved it and really like the new character who plays in huge part . What I was disappointed in was a few popular characters were only mentioned or had tiny appearances. I wish Rachel wasn't so damn independent, so many people want to help her but her pride or ego won't let her ask. She always feels like she has to prove herself. I hoped they would finally help one of my favorite characters, it's breaking my heart. There better be another book to tie up some of these issues. For the people giving negative reviews, you're obviously not a fan of Kim Harrison and Rachel Morgan. After 15 books she can't please everybody.

Fun little mystery
Revisado: 06-05-21
After listening to the first one I looked immediately for book two. Maybe I was in the frame of mind where I needed something more light and fun but I adore these books. If you're expecting a deep story with intricate twist and turns you will be disappointed. When I seen the name of the book and series I was scared there would be an actual cat that sniffs out the bad guy and saves the day. That isn't what this is about, the main character is a pet boutique owner who loves to sell pets healthy homemade treats and cute pet clothing and has the curiosity of a cat that tends to cause mischief. I found Lacy and the cast of characters enduring and the narrator perfect.

Revisado: 06-05-21
First off this isn't a Cornwell or Baldacci, if you're expecting a deep story with intricate twist and turns of course you'll be disappointed. Based of the title of the book and name of the series you have to know it's a cozy little mystery with silliness and fun. I was scared there would be an actual cat that sniffs out the bad guy and saves the day. Historia
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella's side of the story. At last, listeners can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun. This unforgettable tale as told through Edward's eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire.

So Unnecessarily Long!
Revisado: 08-11-20
I loved all the Twilight books so of course like all other fans I was delighted to see Midnight Sun finally be released. What a disappointment, this book seemed to drone on and on and on. Yes there were a few things from Edwards perspective that was interesting, like the Lonnie story. It was nice to see that Bella's almost attacker from Port Angeles was punished. But the rest of the book was pretty much identical to Twilight, except now I dislike Rosalie and Jessica even more. Don't get me wrong I didn't hate the book, but it could have been done in 8 hours instead of almost TWENTY SIX HOURS!!! With twenty six hours and a good editor this book could have covered Edward's side of Twilight, New Moon Eclipse and Breaking Dawn plus a chapter about Bree Tanner. Instead of rehashing this already told the story I wish Stephanie Meyer would have wrote what happens after Breaking Dawn or finally get moving on the sequel to the Host like she promised.

I'm so that the Hollows aren't over after all
Revisado: 06-20-20
I love this series, I know that The Witch with No Name was supposed to be the final book in the series so I was elated to hear that Kim Harrison decided to write another. While this isn't one of the best in the series I still loved it. Trent was the most prominent character besides Rachel, hardly any Ivy or Al. But with two new characters introduced and a pretty open ending it gives me hope that the Hollows will go on. While I was expecting maybe a continuation of where the last book ended with the future, it starts right where the main story ended. The Hollows and Rachel have come a long way.

She used to work for the US government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning. Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

Very Disappointing,
Revisado: 11-20-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, I don't think so. I thought most of the book was very monotonous. it was an unnecessarily long book that was just too full of fluff. The Chemist was predictable and unbelievable. For example she runs low on funds, but wait a minute Kevin got his drug money or hey they're being attacked by a sniper! Oh wait a minute let the dog show the humans how to dress up like dogs to escape. She's running out of ingredients for her chemical weapons, hold up, there'happens to be a drug dealer on the corner, lets just go buy heroin. The whole book was nothing but matter of a fact conveniences. I also thought the characters were unlikable. The main character (Alex, Casey, Jesse,Julianne, Oleander.....or whatever name.) is supposed to be this really smart woman but they made her come across as naive and an airhead at times. Daniel sounds like this inept idiot, Kevin sounds like a stupid, hot headed jock.Honestly the only characters i became invested in was the dogs and maybe the hooker.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I think i may read The Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness again or the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones again.
What about Ellen Archer’s performance did you like?
I really did enjoy the performance, if the narration wasn't so good I would of stopped listening around chapter ten.
Could you see The Chemist being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
You never know, All the Stephanie Meyer movies were huge hits, I wouldn't put it past it becoming a movie. With that being said I'm not saying it would be any good or should be made into a movie.
Any additional comments?
I'm sure people won't be very happy or agree with this review, but I will say I'm a huge Stephanie Meyer fan and I love all of her other books, I actually bought this book simply because she wrote it. I've read the Twilight series many times and absolutely loved The Host and might be in my top ten favorite books of all time.I wish she would just skip this kind of writing, get back to the sci-fi and start The Host sequel she promised to write. Maybe because my expectations are so high when it comes to her writing that I was so easily disappointed.

Bringing the magic and suspense of the All Souls Trilogy to a deeply satisfying conclusion, this highly anticipated finale went straight to number one on the New York Times best seller list. In The Book of Life, Diana and Matthew time-travel back from Elizabethan London to make a dramatic return to the present - facing new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home, Sept-Tours, they reunite with the beloved cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches - with one significant exception.

I Love this Series!
Revisado: 07-23-14
Where does The Book of Life rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Up near the top of my favorite book series.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Book of Life?
SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT..... For me the most memorable moments were when Diana read the letter Philippe wrote to her before he died. And of course when Jack appeared. Both brought tears to my eyes.
Have you listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Only the books in this series.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
ABSOLUTELY!
Any additional comments?
ANOTHER SPOILER ALERT!.......I adored this series. My only problem with this trilogy is that it only a trilogy. She left so much open for another book or even short stories. I want to know more about the children, I want to know what they do about Gerbert of Aurillac and Domenico. I wonder about Gallowglass and if he will find love. I would of like to see him with the other half witch half vampire Janet from the congregation. What happens with Jack? And of course Phoebe becoming a vampire and her life with Marcus. I can go on and on. But I will listen to this book again along with the others.

Best Book in the Series
Revisado: 02-03-14
Would you listen to Up from the Grave again? Why?
Yes, I really enjoy the Cat and Bones books. This is one series I re-listen to every now and then. But I have to say this one was my favorite by far.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Up from the Grave?
I don't want to add any spoilers. But there were a few really good parts.
What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?
I always wonder what this series would be like with another narrator. Tavia Gilbert tends to be over the top at times. But I like her speaking as Bones.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Both.
Any additional comments?
I wish there was more Vlad in the book and a little Justine.
