Familiar yet Powerful Narative

With characters whose personalities are well drawn, this is a satisfying story of the excellence and perseverance it takes to overcome discrimination. Without being a spoiler, the storyline is a combination between To Kill A Mockingbird and American Fiction. Yet, it bears repeating with Baldacci's clear voice.

A thank you to the author who chose this unsettled time in geopolitics to address the dangers of too much hate based upon belief systems.

It's an old saw: Liberty of one person must be constrained so that it does not take away the equivalent Liberty of another. Hate does not make this distinction, neither do all too many politicians!

Life Affirming

A fine embracing of Life when faced with a seeming Fate of Death based upon family history. The author inspires with great humility as she is saved through the deeply caring support of the friends she has earned over many years, the availability of excellent medical care and her ability to recognize, accept and nurture a new and loving partner after grieving the loss of her sister and her husband. Her story is a satisfying reminder that we are able to still find Love and Life after 70. Thank you, Delia.

Fast Moving Drama with Satisfying Ending

It's hard to ca r much a out a professional assassin ; and yet David Baldacci succeeds in humanizing his hero. With excellent foreshadowing and drama that is steady and not too intense, Baldacci creates characters you root for and against with satisfying glee. My first Baldacci book will not be my last.

Too Much and Too Repetitive for my taste...Still

Although the book is way too repetitive for my taste, it does tell the oft told tale that intimacy depends on communication and loving communication can bridge seemingly impossible emotional gaps. The BDSM subject matter is just a dramatic (and at the end of Book One, horrifying) way of introducing how informed trust, patience, respect and love can allow a seemingly impossible emotional gulf between two people to be bridged.
