Historia
In 1971, Go Ask Alice reinvented the young adult genre with a blistering portrayal of sex, psychosis, and teenage self-destruction. The supposed diary of a middle-class addict, Go Ask Alice terrified adults and cemented LSD's fearsome reputation, fueling support for the War on Drugs. Five million copies later, Go Ask Alice remains a divisive bestseller, outraging censors and earning new fans, all of them drawn by the book's mythic premise: A Real Diary, by Anonymous.

cheap shots at religious people masquerading as investigative journalism.
Revisado: 04-02-23
Smug, sarcastic and petty best describe the author’s tone. His holier than thou attitude is made all the more hypocritical when recognizing he employs the same disingenuous manipulation of facts he accuses Beatrice of. I lived through much of the time period in the book and was an active member of the LDS faith. The leaders of the church never endorsed Richard Nixon or spoke in anyway in defense of the Vietnam war. That is a fabrication. The church has been and remains apolitical and anti war. The Worthiness questions were technically correct but the embellishments were complete nonsense. I’ve been on both sides of many of those interviews and never experienced anything remotely like the author’s description. While I can see some case for Jays journal having caused harm to the actual family the author fails to show how the book Go ask Alice did any real harm at all. In fact the last chapter covers several examples of how that book kept some kids from getting involved in harmful drugs. Probably influenced many in that direction. Then, the author goes to lay out how Alice was loosely based on an actual girl Beatrice knew. He doesn’t really ever talk to anyone who knew Beatrice. We never really get her side. Honestly, the meeting with Beatrice and Alden’s family sounds like they were basically on pleasant terms. She hurt them so terribly that they kindly invite her in for a visit years later? Their harassment was so bad at that house due to the book that they stayed there for decades? Look, I get it, your a liberal narcissist with a serious hate on for conservative religious people especially Mormons. Why didn’t you just write a book about that? On second thought you more or less did.

Blatant lies
Revisado: 03-03-23
I don’t know what is true because he blatantly lied about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. How do I trust a single word else he said. There is a lot of criticism that can be fairly leveled at Joseph Smith and early Mormonism but no one has ever claimed Joseph Smith channeled Moroni nor has any LDS leader ever contended that the golden plates contained an alternate history. The effort to link Joseph Smith to later occult mystics is uninformed at best. Since it’s beginning Joseph Smith’s organization has elevated God and Jesus Christ and the Biblical world view and denounced any adherence to Luciferian philosophy. Again I recognize arguments can be made that Joseph Smith taught that men could ascend to the status of divinity but only as an adherent to the principles of atonement accomplished by Jesus Christ. Nor can it be argued that Joseph Smith believed men could supplant God or Jesus. He never taught that secret rites or rituals were to supersede the authority of Christ but served only as an appendage to the atonement of Christ. Joseph Smith’s vision of exaltation is deeply rooted in the divine sonship of Christ and is a salvation that comes only through Christ. It’s offered freely to all live or dead. I’m keenly aware the author knows all this and is purposely trying to squeeze Joseph Smith into the mold of the other Luciferian mystic adherents because he lacks the integrity to argue against Joseph Smith on the basis of fact. The lies about Joseph Smith serve no purpose to further the arguments of this book. The multiple claims to being unbiased are laughable however. Write a book about Joseph Smith and present his position honestly. Then refute him. That would require integrity.

I can’t give a book like this 5 stars. If “Pride and Prejudice” or “In Cold Blood” are 5 stars then can a book about a cowboy and his sidekick Bigfoot get 5 stars? No, but it’s a really fun take on a sort of classic Western tale. I give it four stars for the shear creativity of the premise. The narrator sounds like a Cowboy with limited language skills and that sorta works but he does get monotonous at times. The story is really predictable and sorta canned. Including the girl dressed like a boy. However,in this age of political correctness, the author paints a picture of men being men, women being women, and Native Americans being savage Indians. I’m glad he did. I think the risk paid off. One more native shaman guiding the corrupt white man interloper to some mystical enlightenment would have made me puke. It’s a fun Western tale with a cool Bigfoot twist, I’ll read the next installment happily. I recommend it.

A compelling story not for everyone
Revisado: 10-02-21
Kids shouldn’t be reading true crime anyway and people with Pollyanna stories don’t end up with life sentences. It’s a story that’s gritty, dark and replete with uncomfortable sexual themes. As usual there are tons of unanswered questions and frustrating ineptitude by law enforcement and prosecution officials. The 19 year old, clearly troubled daughter was held more responsible than the multiple full grown adults that surrounded her. I recommend the book to any True Crime fan that can deal with the somewhat graphic child sexual abuse depictions.

If this book was named appropriately it would have been a mediocre romance novel. The title is entirely dishonest the story is a very lackluster love story. It’s very odd. Poorly written. The narrator tries but he isn’t given much to work with. Don’t waste your time.

Potential but condescending.
Revisado: 08-16-21
This story had some real potential but the execution was seriously lacking. Honestly, if I was a woman I would be more insulted by the female characters than enthused. Feather, the Native American girl, becomes as much of a cliché as Tonto is in the “Lone Ranger” stories. Up to and including the strained “King James” style English she speaks for totally nonsensical reasons. The protagonist, Virginia Reed, is a 15 year old girl who has recently survived the horrific ordeal of the “Donnor Party” during their ill fated trek west. The author has reimagined the historical tragedy as a werewolf story in his first book of the series. You don’t need to read the first book to follow this book though. The point is that Virginia emerged from the first book as a mystical hero with special powers to fight monsters. In other words, Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1850s California. Slowly, but surely the author employs every formulaic cliché of the “hero’s journey” including her father’s gifted Bowie Knife, lightsaber, and a wise Kanobe like hotel owner that helps her to realize her divine monster slayer destiny. The standard leftist ideological diatribe is woven incessantly into the narrative. As usual white men and their civilization is the cause for all the evil and destruction. The author includes a secondary character called “the preacher.” Preacher is a hypocritical miner who rattles of scripture constantly while he himself is knee deep in all the white male atrocity. That’s exactly how I might describe this author. I was hoping for a good “Bigfoot” story but instead I got a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” dramatized rendition of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth.” Your intelligence is gonna be insulted early and often. In other words, an anti capitalist anti American and environmentalists indoctrination Buffy story.

Typical Tom Lyons mediocrity
Revisado: 05-26-20
As with all of Tom Lyons “books” this is very short and mediocre writing. Not worth a credit. Pay cash if you must. You should not purchase anything by Tom Lyons unless you already own every other book in the Bigfoot genre. Anything Rusty Wilson has written is superior to any of Toms books I highly recommend you get all of those first. All of Tom’s books would be a chapter in any normal book.

The audiobooks in this series are a compilation of sightings, encounters, and evidentiary findings as they pertain to Bigfoot in North America and those who have encountered them. W. J. Sheehan shares these testimonials in the style of a beat reporter chasing a compelling story, rather than that of a dramatist reading a script. He is an internationally known figure in the field of Bigfoot and is sought after for his entertaining interviewing style.

Worst grammar I’ve ever heard on a published work. Terrible New Jersey accent with ridiculous idioms throughout. Makes every account sound like an older New Jersey man telling stories at a local bar. Still, it’s Bigfoot you gotta listen. So wish he would hire a real editor and a professional narrator.
