Historia
Future-proof your career and maximize your competitive advantage by learning the skill necessary to stay relevant, reinvent yourself, and adapt to whatever the workplace throws your way in this essential guide. Scott Young incorporates the latest research about the most effective learning methods and the stories of other ultralearners like himself - among them Ben Franklin, Judit Polgar, and Richard Feynman, as well as a host of others, such as little-known modern polymaths like Nigel Richards who won the World Championship of French Scrabble - without knowing French.

Historia
Don Quixote has become so entranced by reading romances of chivalry that he determines to become a knight errant and pursue bold adventures, accompanied by his squire, the cunning Sancho Panza. As they roam the world together, the ageing Quixote's fancy leads them wildly astray. At the same time the relationship between the two men grows in fascinating subtlety.

Surprisingly bad
Revisado: 06-22-24
Author just adds twists and turns to make the novel more interesting. Characters border on the ridiculous - poor lonely but brillant protagonist who needs to find himself.

Historia

A classic. Superbly presented.

This book is a classic. As stated in the epilogue, this is a novel, but the characters are derived from anecdotes based on historical evidence… And what a presentation by the narrator!

Historia
As a young man, Frederick Douglass (1818-1895) escaped from slavery in Baltimore, Maryland. He was fortunate to have been taught to read by his slave owner mistress, and he would go on to become one of the major literary figures of his time. He wrote three versions of his autobiography over the course of his lifetime and published his own newspaper. His very existence gave the lie to slave owners: with dignity and great intelligence, he bore witness to the brutality of slavery.

Revisado: 05-01-23
What a life. What an American. What a country. We must learn from the mistakes of our past and we do so when presented in such a thoughtful and thorough manner. Too many are unaware of the remarkable lives of leaders that have shaped our country. Education and awareness can put right a lot of wrongs. Many thanks to the author for introducing us to one of the most important individuals in our nation’s history.

Historia
Hated and hailed, excoriated and revered, Abraham Lincoln was at the pinnacle of American power when secessionists gave no quarter in a clash of visions bound up with money, race, identity, and faith. In him we can see the possibilities of the presidency as well as its limitations. This book tells the story of Lincoln from his birth on the Kentucky frontier to his leadership during the Civil War to his tragic assassination: his rise, his self-education, his loves, his bouts of depression, his political failures, his deepening faith, and his persistent conviction that slavery must end.

Historia
Harry Haller is a sad and lonely figure, a reclusive intellectual for whom life holds no joy. He struggles to reconcile the wild primeval wolf and the rational man within himself without surrendering to the bourgeois values he despises. His life changes dramatically when he meets a woman who is his opposite, the carefree and elusive Hermine.

Painful performance
Revisado: 03-08-23
Couldn’t stand the narrator/performance. If I had to hear him pronounce “bourgeois” as “boogois” one more time I was going to jump out of the window… His delivery in general was grating.

Historia
