Historia
For decades we have been taught that fat is bad for us, carbohydrates better, and that the key to a healthy weight is eating less and exercising more. Yet despite this advice, we have seen unprecedented epidemics of obesity and diabetes. Taubes argues that the problem lies in refined carbohydrates, like white flour, easily digested starches, and sugars, and that the key to good health is the kind of calories we take in, not the number.

Really good information, but way overdone
Revisado: 04-24-25
This book is so long! A lot of helpful information but could’ve been condensed into 1/3 or less of the amount of the audiobook. The listener does not need 50 examples. Life is too short and busy.

Great advice and plan!
Revisado: 03-14-25
The author does an excellent job of laying out a clear plan. I am usually fairly critical of personal finance books, but this guy nails it. Great job, great book!

Steven missed the mark with this title
Revisado: 01-29-25
I was so excited to listen to this book based on its title. I soon realized how much it was focused on marketing and consumer buying habits. I was so confused considering the title of the book. I’m sure it’s a helpful marketing book, but was not what I was expecting or wanting. Moving on to another book.

Historia
How much of our daily caloric intake comes from ingesting substances that, technically speaking, do not meet traditional definitions of “food”? Chances are, if you’re eating something that came wrapped in plastic and contains a funky ingredient you don’t have in your kitchen, it's most likely—almost definitely—ultra-processed food, or UPF.

Revisado: 12-23-24
What an eye-opening book! I am 52 and just recently learned about UPF. This is an amazing book to read/listen to. My wife and I are taking a new look at the “food” we consume. UPF is coming to the forefront to nutritional knowledge thanks to books like this one.

Historia
The truth is, being a great leader doesn’t mean you need to have a fancy job title. You don’t have to be overly assertive, and you don’t need to rule with an “iron fist”. Following the simple framework in this book, you can quickly go from putting out fires at work to building a collaborative and cooperative team. A team that respects and follows you, not because you’re a manager, but because you are the boss. But the choice is yours. You can keep second-guessing every decision you make. Or you can bring out the strong leader within and inspire your team to success.

Whether you’re a new CEO trying to navigate chaotic workdays or a veteran of the C-Suite trying to reignite your passion, focus is your most important asset. Many owners and CEOs think they have to be involved in every aspect of their business. They spend valuable brainpower on low-priority decisions. Before long, they’re overworked and burned out.

Historia
Being a CEO at any of the world’s largest companies is among the most challenging roles in business. Billions, and even trillions, are at stake—and the fates of tens of thousands of employees often hang in the balance. Yet, even when “can’t miss” high-achievers win the top job, very few excel. For those who shoulder the burden of being the one on whom everyone counts, a manual for excellence is sorely needed. To identify the 21st century’s best CEOs, the authors of CEO Excellence started with a pool of over 2,400 public company CEOs.

Ruined a good book with political bias
Revisado: 10-22-24
Why or why did you have to go there in Chapter 13? The book has so much good information to offer and then to bash Trump and promote companies/policies to ban Trump as successful leadership is extremely disappointing. You don't have to support Trump or Biden, but you shouldn't have a bias lean. I am betting at least half of your listeners are supporting Trump and you risk losing them with one chapter alone; reducing your credibility. Very disappointing.
