Historia
Published anonymously on January 10, 1776, Thomas Paine's legendary work made the case for American independence. An immediate sensation across the thirteen colonies, Common Sense extolled Paine's belief that government should be simple and represent the will of the people, acting not as an oppressor but as a body to protect society. His clear and persuasive argument appealed to the common people, impressing on them the importance of secession from Great Britain.

I enjoyed listening to this very much. Pertains to a lot of our issues in politics today. Definitely worth thinking about. The narrator was easy to listen to and easy to follow.

In This Is Me, Chrissy Metz shares her story with a raw honesty that will leave listeners both surprised but also inspired. Infused with the same authenticity she brings to her starring role, Chrissy's This Is Me is so much more than your standard Hollywood memoir or collection of personal essays. She embraces the spirit of Shonda Rhimes' Year of Yes and shares how she has applied the lessons she learned from both setbacks and successes. A born entertainer, Chrissy finds light in even her darkest moments and leaves the listener feeling they are spending time with a friend who gets it.

Revisado: 08-06-20
I tried to give this book a chance. It was informative, but felt petty and vindictive. I appreciate the warnings the author offered, but in so many ways this was just an elite version of a very dysfunctional family.

In her first work of nonfiction, the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood recounts her experiences on Gilmore Girls - the first and second times - and shares stories about life, love, and working in Hollywood. This collection of essays is written in the intimate, hilarious, and down-to-earth voice that made her novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, a New York Times best seller.

fun audio book
Revisado: 07-18-20
I loved the author and narrator of this book with her quirky personality. Even though I'm not as familiar with all the TV personalities she referred to, it was still entertaining. It is mostly about her time acting and lessons she learned along the way. I did miss the photos from the book that she referenced frequently.

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

THE BEST fictional novel!
Revisado: 07-13-20
I recommend this to anyone who loves romance, history, intrigue, and plot twists. Based on actual events, I found myself researching so many issues, names, circumstances. I was also must impressed with the authors abilities to invoke my own emotions from so many angles. I greatly appreciated the authors notes at the end, too. The narrator's voice was more than perfect, it pulled me in. I've already purchased the paper copy to add to my collection of favorites! The musical "Hamilton" is even better after reading this.

Margaret Trudeau, former wife of Pierre Trudeau, 15th Prime Minister of Canada, mother of Justin Trudeau, Canada's current Prime Minister, and international mental health advocate, brought her intimate staged performance, Certain Woman of an Age, to the Minetta Lane Theatre, where it was recorded live for Audible Theater. In this "fearless and vulnerable" (Chicago Tribune) one-woman show, Trudeau opens up - with refreshing candor - about her extraordinary life and her encounters with some of the most important icons of our time.

Some people keep an eye on the sky early and often, every day, with eyes of fascination, a mind of curiosity, and a deep desire to learn about the wonders of the Earth's atmosphere. People like James Spann. Most know him from social media, television, radio, or the weekly show for weather nerds, WeatherBrains. This autobiography allows folks to ride along with James Spann on his long and winding life journey. The book was written to document a long career in weather and the events that shaped it, and to serve as an encouragement and blessing to those who read/listen to it.

entertaining life story
Revisado: 05-28-20
This book is the life story of James Spann, an Alabama meteorologist. It is not a "self-help" book but may be inspiring to some readers. I enjoyed it mostly due to my personal experiences with the weather events described and my appreciation for James Spann from my younger years in Alabama.

Even Better
Revisado: 02-04-20
I enjoyed this book in the series even more than the first two. It gave a great story line contrasting two directions in the same family, the one who stayed in Nauvoo and those who traveled west. I particularly like the interaction of fictional characters with real people from history. I would like more of that. I look forward to it continuing.

good LDS pioneer fiction
Revisado: 01-13-20
This was a good story about early members of the LDS church and their trials and persecutions. The narrator's voice was a little too monotone and breathy for my taste. But I plan to continue with book 2.

These humorous tales are brought to life by Derek Jacobi as Father Christmas, John Moffatt as Polar Bear, and Christian Rodska as Ilbereth the Elf, complete with specially composed music.
