Historia
True never guessed that life would be this hard. Being only 25 years old, she should have been being wild, reckless, and having fun, not fighting the hardest battle of her life, alongside a husband who no longer loved her. After their divorce, True wanted to be free and enjoy every day. Falling in love was not in the plan. She most definitely hadn't foreseen falling in love with an arrogant, womanizing hustler like Coop. Yet, she did. However, as soon as True tells him all her truth, he'll revert back to that unbearable goon that wreaked havoc on the streets of Chicago.

A Love He Never Knew Until He Found True
Revisado: 04-25-25
Initially, I found it hard to keep my attention, but eventually I was wanting to know what would come between Coop and True. Then, it took a while to learn what sickness True was battling. It then became a little sad, and I could understand Coop’s anger once True revealed that to him. It was at that point that he was falling for her. It took some time for him to get over that, but it’s never too late. Coop’s love for True was evident. There was also Remy who eventually was brought into the fold with True and her mom, Angel. They had their stories. I was happy for Angel finding love again, after she lost her husband (for which she felt responsible). Then, Remy she had some low esteem issues, that she soon came to realize that she had to believe in herself and not let her bum ex-boyfriend to tear her down. He (Banks) came to recognize that she was the one for him, too late for him. That is how it goes, don’t know what you’ve lost until it’s gone. True’s wish for Remy and Coop, after her illness succumbed her was some foresight. However, she saw the attraction and chemistry between Remy and Coop. Remy being her nurse in her last days. Coop figured it all out, and how nice he was led to this family that he never had.

When I envisioned the life that I wanted for myself, I pictured myself sitting in a rocking chair in the nursery me and my husband had spent months designing. I pictured looking down at a baby that resembled the both of us, and thanking God that he chose me to be their mother. My reality was that I was staring down at another negative pregnancy test and realizing the possibility that I had failed another cycle of IVF, alone. There was no husband here to comfort me, or a nursery that I could sit and sob in. Each time that one line appeared, a small piece of me always died inside.

Blessings upon blessings upon blessings..
Revisado: 04-21-25
It was interesting to follow the account of the Welshire men. Laurent’s story was interesting, as he was a half brother - and how he came to be was like wow! This was not one of my favorites of the three books. I say that because, I wished that Laurent would have handled his situation with Alice (his wife) before he got involved with Ember. I mean I know it happens. Although Ember didn’t seem to mind, she was fine with going along since they had feeling from their first encounter. Even then, Laurent was still married. Alice was unfaithful, too, but it doesn’t make it right. They were bold and right up under their noses!!! Just end the relationships and move on with a clean slate, so to speak. I do understand, when children are involved or you might have a reputation to protect. I think others would respect you more, if handled the right way. I can appreciate the touch on the topic of infertility, because many women experience it. I felt for Ember, when she didn’t feel worthy because of not being able to be a mother. She had a strong support system that would help her get through it. All she needed was faith. That was so beautiful how she was bless three fold. Laurent said she would be a mother; he just knew it. In the end, and how they got together, they were good for each other. Those Welshire men loved their women with their whole beings; they were some fortunate women to marry into richness. I wonder if there will be something written about Harlem’s best friend, June and maybe Quan and Romeo? It would be interesting to hear more about them.

Every day I turned my camera on, sat in front of my tripod, and recorded myself doing my makeup, hair, or getting ready for an event. My supporters watched wishing they had the newest designer bag that I had just worn, or the mountains upon mountains of PR every brand sent to my front door. They wanted to be Harlym J., and I mean, I couldn’t blame them. I made this lifestyle look like a piece of cake with three cherries on top.

Appreciated the love and patience of Ashton
Revisado: 04-15-25
Enjoyed the narration by Staci and Ace. The storyline, at some points worked my nerves. I was getting so frustrated with Harlym. I do understand the dilemma, and her disorder was nothing to play with. Once she revealed her truth, she saw the support she didn’t think she’d have. Her biggest support being Ashton, because her former boyfriend Cam was there only to tear her down. Unfortunately, he was her safe space (in her mind). I was so glad she finally got it. She definitely deserved better. That disorder, I don’t hear a lot in the black community, and I am sure it exists. Unfortunately, it starts at home or from those we think care about us - not realizing how damaging it could become.
Oh and as they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Ashton and Harlym stuck to it, as they dragged

Tori was a tough one..
Revisado: 04-08-25
This can be a quick listen that will keep you fully engaged, and the narration brought it to life. Tori was a fighter. Most of her young life, she was put into the company of those that did not have her best interest at heart. It was like she would trust only to get burned. She was thrown into prostitution, but she also had to protect herself. I was glad she didn’t give much of a second change; she was out of there! Then she met Buck; although, he might not been the best role model but he did care for her. She told her story about her life in those tender years. Unfortunately, guilt got the best of her.

Stony and Young, Poppa and Ash - Forever Fam!
Revisado: 04-01-25
I have not yet been disappointed by the work penned by K.C. She did it again with this one. The audiobook was great, as well as the narrators - who I have never heard before. The storyline was basically two love stories between two sets of best friends that were like family to one another. I just know when it came to Young and Poppa, do not cross either one of them or you will get yours. And, don’t come for anyone that was close to Young. The connection between Stony and Young grew quickly. Once he knew she was a real one, not after his fame or money; she was a keeper. He never looked back to his past. Although, because of his career there was always someone that was trying to tear him down or make a bad name for him - Young was two steps ahead. When it came to his manager (?) Melinda, Stony’s father, Stony’s ex, and the Insta-Ho, Monni. Poppa was something else, too, he probably never thought he would be locked down until he met Ashling. They were perfect for each other, with their bickering between one another. It caused him to slow down in his game. Yes, Poppa and Young had some hood game going on, along with their “professional” careers. Both Poppa and Young saw how their women were boss ladies, and didn’t need them for anything. However, that didn’t stop them for giving them what they didn’t ask for - which they appreciated. I loved how Stony and Ashling were the best of friends, and held it down for each other. I wonder whatever happened to that smoothie shop, never game back up? Also, it wasn’t clear the different names used for Stony’s father..maybe I missed something.

Joy and Logic were meant to be...
Revisado: 03-20-25
I so horoughly enjoyed this audiobook. K.C. Mills never disappoints. I didn’t know if I would enjoy the narration by a male and solo. However, I knew Tony Isabella was a good one, and he did very well. I loved the storyline, how Joy and Logic didn’t waste any time with making it known that they were interested in one another. Logic had his reservations, as he thought he wasn’t her type. Joy had that push from her best friend K to give him a chance. Once they connected, it was on and popping. Of course, they did have their challenges; they were made for each other. Joy’s parents were a trifling mess, and that ex of hers. Wow! There was a mix of love building among couples and that street thug life. Logic was the man, and a true book bae. Logic and his family were tight; his mom although a little woman kept her children in check. She went through it, but her family meant the world to her. Logic’s father figure Luther stepped in at the right time at the most appropriate reason. Finding out how things were going via the epilogue had me smiling so hard.

Ocean was the driver's name, and it fit her perfectly. Just looking at her, he knew that her beauty was endlessly deep, and behind the allure in her eyes was violent turbulence. She was beyond her curves, chocolate skin, and artistic features. Despite her youth, life had dealt her a bad hand. She had the eyes of a fighter—determined and unafraid. Her pain was evident in the creases of her brow and the natural pout of her full lips. Her amazing eyes revealed a broken soul, fighting to put itself back together.

Ocean's troubles to blessings
Revisado: 03-12-25
Very good narration, Ace is becoming one of my favorite male narrators; of course, I always enjoy Morae. The storyline shows a good example of redemption or a new lease on life. Ocean had something precious taken from her at a young age, and introduced into a promiscuous lifestyle. Most would say she had to do what she do, and then she was introduced to a somewhat savior. That in turn ended up being a big disappointment. Uber came to her rescue along with her knight in shining armor. Lyfe was her dream come true, and although they had their ups and downs; they knew they belonged together and would get through anything that came that way. At least Lyfe would make sure of it. I was happy that Ocean’s woes turned into blessings; she deserved it.

They all just need to put it on the table!!
Revisado: 03-06-25
This was the first I heard of this author, and the audiobook was recommended. The narration was well done. The storyline was very good; it definitely took you through all the feels. That includes love had, lost, grief, conflict, secrets, betrayal, blackmail and more. It was interesting how Cherokee and Dillinger reconnected. They will be forever tied together. However, what came between their ever getting back together is Carmilla, Dillinger’s wife. She will be darned if anyone comes between them. Maybe it is time for them to end trying to be a couple, as they may not have a choice. Same with Santos and Layla, although it seems like he won’t leave her alone. They have some history with one another, but Layla seems like she wants something new and fresh. Besides, she can’t get over how he hurt her with his omission. They both did some dirt. When Santos and Dillinger are together, you know it’s going to be some deranged activities. This ended with a lot of unanswered questions, which means Books 2 and 3. Ughhh….

Past relationships have left Nova scarred. Finishing up school and opening her boutique were her main focus until she ran into Grayson. Grayson was worried about being a great father and his photography career when Nova ran into him, in the most literal sense. While Nova tries to run from Grayson, afraid he'll turn out like the rest of the men who broke her heart, Grayson is determined to show her different. Not one to let go without a fight, he's determined to show her the beauty he sees behind the lens.

A Unique First Encounter
Revisado: 03-04-25
This was basically a no-drama love story. The narration was pretty good. Although, I didn’t care too much for Morae’s male portrayal. Nova obviously had bad experiences with dating in the past, which may have resulted in her insecurities. It was interesting how Grayson knew he wanted to pursue her after that fender bender. Well, for the both of them it, there was some chemistry. I appreciated how Grayson and his baby momma had a good relationship. His ex did not interfere in Grayson’s love life; she more so encouraged him. You don’t see that too often. I know at some points it bothered Nova, but she came to understand their co-parenting relationship. It was understood how his son had a wishful thought for them. :-). Glad they were able to come together to clear that up. Nova was fashionista and Grayson was an amazing photographer. They were a great fit for one another. Glad to see that they both excelled and together!

Revisado: 02-24-25
This was my first listen to an audiobook authored by Anitta Jackson. The narration was very good by Ace and Ebony. The storyline was one of those where you have to keep up with all that was going on and all that was involved. Talking about loyalty, trust, betrayal, and the scheming. I feel so bad for the foster mom, Mamma Joy, as she knew she did her best with raising Alexis, Jace, Kita, Rose, Zeke and whomever else. They all seemed to have been through something, but it turns out they may be in competition with one another. They were pretty much in it for themselves, and they will bring down whoever got in their way. It will be interesting to find out what happens between Alexis and Kevelle, and Onwa’s baby girl; oh and the Russians - if they are behind some of the schemes. It’s like you have to move on to the next book to find out. Ughhh….
