Historia
At twenty-two, free-spirited Amber Farrow has no concerns beyond finishing her final year of nursing on exchange in Australia. What she hasn't counted upon is crossing paths with Griffin Lee. Amber and Griffin's two hearts are clearly made for each other. But where Griffin is inclined to put down roots, Amber has always been a citizen of the world, treading lightly upon the earth, never staying too long in one place. This Audible original has blown me away. Superb writing, beautiful narration, incomparable story. I am so deeply touched by this work. My only regret is I can't share it with my friend who would equally love it, but does not have Audible.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

A captivating story

a wonderful story full of real people experiencing longing, grief, and basically living life. including the observations of an octopus seems like it could make the story ridiculous. instead it added to the human interest.

Historia
Suddenly, something big and white bumps up against the car, and I jump. I think I must be dreamin’, ’cause I just saw a horse run by. When Cole’s mom dumps him in the mean streets of Philly to live with the dad he’s never met, the last thing he expects to see is a horse - let alone a stable full of them. He may not know much about cowboys, but what he knows for sure is that cowboys ain’t black, and they don’t live in the ’hood. But here, horses are a way of life, and soon Cole’s days of skipping school and getting in trouble in Detroit have been replaced by shoveling muck and trying not to get stomped on.

so interesting and inspiring
Revisado: 02-15-22
Turns out Cassandra Peterson is the same age as me and some of the pivotal moments in her life were in Los Angeles at the time I lived there. her life is so much more than I expected. I related to much about the culture of Los Angeles at that time. her writing is straightforward and paced well. her performance of the story is excellent. even more enjoyable knowing it is her story. she had some abuse to overcome and inspired me to better understand my own history.

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Historia
Are you a Lightworker? It is the Lightworkers' mission to lend their light energy to a planet heavy with fear and negativity. But Lightworkers aren't all well known spiritual gurus. They are musicians and artists, shopkeepers, accountants, stay-at-home moms, and people you pass on the street. They share their gifts by speaking out for those who have no voice and they create glorious works of art that beautify our planet or write music that elevates our spirits.

A great introduction to role of lightworker
Revisado: 03-25-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Lightworker to be better than the print version?
no
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
As an introduction, I would have preferred some more time spent on how ordinary people fulfill their role as lightworkers
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Unnatural inflections, sentences with inappropriate pauses, and mispronounced words (for example "ethereal" is mispronounced 3 different ways)
What did you learn from Lightworker that you would use in your daily life?
There were many insights and explanations that were news to me
Any additional comments?
It was hard for me to respect the content of the writing due to the distraction of the bad narration. The book itself was so interesting, I pushed through the narration so I could finish the whole story.

Historia
Ayn Rand is the author of two phenomenally best-selling ideological novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, which have sold over 12 million copies in the United States alone. Through them, she built a right-wing cult following in the late 1950s and became the guiding light of Libertarianism and of White House economic policy in the 1960s and '70s. Her defenses of radical individualism and of selfishness as a "capitalist virtue" have permanently altered the American cultural landscape.

Fascinating biography of an icon of my generation
Revisado: 11-12-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Ayn Rand and the World She Made to be better than the print version?
the audio version brings more life to the story because of the marvelous narration and characterization of Ayn Rand's voice
What did you like best about this story?
the skillful manner in which the faults in Ayn Rand's philosophy are exposed, as the author's reasons as to how Rand's childhood experiences formed her philosophy of rationalism.
What does Bernadette Dunne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her voice is reminiscent of that of actress Kate Mulgrew (of Captain Janeway fame). Her husky deep female voice, and the unique emotional quality of her narration, is perfect to tell the story of this famous woman. And perfect also in capturing her Russian accent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I couldn't stop listening. It was compelling, both the writing and narration
Any additional comments?
My first husband was a devotee of Ayn Rand's philosophy and we spent long hours talking about how make it our life philosophy. My husband was completely devoted to these ideas. This occurred at the height of her popularity. I will never forget her impact on our lives. I read all her books. Nevertheless, I had problems accepting certain aspects of her rational beliefs. I will never forget those times and her impact on our lives. This biography is fascinating in the way it presents a very human Ayn Rand and how her charisma convinced so many to worship her.

Historia
Marked by tragedy, traumatized at the age of eight, Michael, now 18, is no ordinary young man. Besides not uttering a single word in 10 years, he discovers the one thing he can somehow do better than anyone else. Whether it's a locked door without a key, a padlock with no combination, or even an eight hundred-pound safe...he can open them all. It's an unforgivable talent. A talent that will make young Michael a hot commodity with the wrong people.

A great read
Revisado: 05-14-12
What made the experience of listening to The Lock Artist the most enjoyable?
Original story. Excellent writing. Superb characters by narrator. Non-stop entertainment. Hard to categorize. A coming of age story about a rebellious young man who survived a traumatic childhood event. Scary characters, but not too gory. No gratuitous sex. Not psychotic. I loved it.
What other book might you compare The Lock Artist to and why?
its an original
