The Sarah Maclean story is worth 10 stars

I’m not even done with the rest of the book but I loved Sarah’s story so much I can’t imagine giving this less than a perfect rating. It’s sweet, sexy, moving - everything a romance should be. I will listen to this one again and again.
Update: I read them all. Masters, all of them. Highly recommend. Justine Eyre is slightly breathy for me but I can deal!

It has so many great elements. Strong willed heroine, handsome Duke, New York City. But it seems like the author was so determined for the heroine to be a feminist, that it lost a lot of the romance. I am personally a feminist, but I like strong men who know themselves. This guy was just along for the ride. It was hard to invest in either of them. I almost feel like I would have loved it without the romance. The love scene was tepid, at best.
I liked a lot about this book. I am also a huge fan of pockets and strong women and NYC. But it was so so so careful not to offend modern women that it made it hard to get immersed in the Gilded Age.
