Historia
I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of....

Whoa
Revisado: 02-05-24
This was definitely a twisted tale. McFadden did a fantastic job of stringing this story together. Every time you think you've connected the story, she takes another turn.
This story hooked me from the very beginning. The story of a housewife deemed crazy while her life is completely controlled. Her husband painted the perfect gentleman in public while the perfect monster at home. Her only hope lies with the new maid. But is that a price she's willing to pay?

Historia
When the Nazis came to power in Europe, the lives of homosexuals came to be ruled by fear as raids, arrests, prison sentences, and expulsions became the daily reality. When the concentration camps were built, homosexuals were imprisoned along with Jews. The pink triangle, sewn onto prison uniforms, became the symbol of their persecution. Branded by the Pink Triangle combines historical research with first-person accounts and individual stories to bring this history to life for listeners.

The heartbreaking forgotten
Revisado: 01-03-24
it is hard for modern minds to comprehend the horrors that took place during WWIi at the hands of the Nazis. What makes it even harder to comprehend is that many groups beyond the Jews were basically forgotten. The men who were tortured and murdered across Europe due to their sexual preference should not be forgotten. We owe every victim, every survivor our honor and remembrance.
I was guilty of not knowing about the horrors of the pink triangle until we did a tour of Sachsenhausen this past fall. With a heavy heart, I knew I wanted to learn more. This book provides a raw and real look at what these men endured and that their suffering did not end with liberation. This was a well written, informative read that definitely helped educate me. To those who were branded by the pink triangle, we will not forget you.

A Glimpse into Chaos
Revisado: 12-30-23
My heart truly aches for Britney and all that she went through at the hands of her abusive father. Having recently taken a step away from family myself, so much of what she said resonated with me. I'm so glad she was finally able to grab her freedom. She deserves nothing but a chance to live life by her own accord.
Her story was told in a very raw and real way. From the continued monitoring to the forced institutionalized, she went through hell at the hands of her father and I hope he rots for what he's done to her. How any parent can treat their child that way is beyond me. I hope the next chapters of her life are filled with happiness.

Definitely didn't see the ending coming
Revisado: 08-18-22
I really enjoyed this. I found myself consistently reaching for my headphones to listen to just one more chapter. The twist at the end was surprising as I kept pegging the wrong person. But overall, it was a really good book.
