Historia
I Did It is the story of Gina Champion-Cain, the mastermind behind the largest woman-led Ponzi scheme in US history—$400 million. This real-life story includes a multitude of participants, banks, hedge funds, egomaniacs, and small-time crooks, all fueled by greed, stupidity, and a keen desire to look the other way. And even when they were looking in the right direction, all of these people and entities saw nothing.

Typical Narcissist View of Crime
Revisado: 03-16-23
If you can't stand criminals blaming everyone else for their crimes...DON'T READ THIS BOOK...it will drive you crazy. Ms. Champion-Cain is so smug and self aggrandizing about how everyone else is to blame for: not calling her out; not figuring out what was the problem with the scheme; being mesmerized by her; and being greedy. She claims to admit guilt but at the same time tries to downplay her part and negate the grief she caused lots of people. A typical narcissist criminals take on things.

If you rely on paramedics...don't read this book!
Revisado: 07-29-21
I'm a fan of rescue stories with all the excitement and background information, and this story provided the interesting backdrop of national parks. I recognize that you have to have a certain cockiness to perform this type of job, I am also a Type 1 diabetic who has required the services of many paramedics in my time and after years of working in various hospital, police and military situations that require a knowledge of gallows humor I understand where that comes from, however, some of the actual demeaning of his patients by the author made me get a sick feeling that I will never be able to fully appreciate and trust another paramedic again. This is sad for me, because I've had many paramedics that left me with true respect for the individuals and profession. A big part of dealing with an emergency health situation is trust. While I appreciated the interesting stories that flow from the national parks, if you are a person who has to rely on paramedics for your health, I recommend you not read this book.

An exciting journey!
Revisado: 05-06-21
I saw this movie several years ago and really liked it so when I read the reviews thought it would be interesting. As is usually the case, the book is much better. I loved all the details which help paint a clearer picture and make the visual 3-D. I liked that Junger wrote about other incidents involved with this storm other than just the Andrea Gail. Would definitely read this book again.

Thought Provoking
Revisado: 11-11-20
I want to have a 4 day panel discussion after listening to this! The subject initiates a myriad of feelings from anger, sorrow, disgust and sympathy both for the "so called" victims and "so called" abuser of the system. I did some research on the writer, Dov Fox, after completing the podcast and was surprised at his credentials because of his soft handling of the material. While I understand the need of people who purchase sperm to try to control their every option because of its importance, it somehow comes across seamy while reading about this story. I find it disgusting that the company perpetrating this fraud is somehow left relatively unscathed. And as far as Mr. 9623, I think Dov Fox was far too mesmerized by this individual to assess his true lack of honesty and integrity. Still, this is an interesting story that provokes thought and discussion about an industry that requires much more scrutiny. I would listen again!

Moving Account that is a Must Read!
Revisado: 11-07-20
This is more a story of the value of women in the USA than sexual abuse. It shows systemic abuse and the lack of care or action to protect women versus the outrage of women trying to ruin men's lives. The disgust and action shown when men are abused versus the coverup toward women's abuse. It displays how even when 6 to 8 year old girls are abused it means nothing next to the man's career. These women were very open and brave when they took this on and I hope that they can continue to make a difference for young women in the future. I've seen documentaries on this case but this Audible Original was better because it really captured the women's down to earth reactions and didn't try to paint motives that weren't there. A must read.

Historia
Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.

Love, Lucy
Revisado: 08-08-20
I've always been a big Lucille Ball fan so listening to this story, that she wrote, read by her daughter was a special treat. It was easy to listen to and the stories were full of fun, famous names, and the colorful insight that makes them one of a kind. Lucie Arnaz's voice is easily recognized and even though quite different than Lucille Ball's voice, gave the story an extra special touch. Even though there was lots of glamour and high society, the charm of this tale is that Lucy was very hard working and pragmatic, which is very evident. She speaks frankly and lovingly about Desi which also brings loads of charm to the story. It's easy to see after hearing this story why the world loves Lucy.

Chilling Portrait
Revisado: 08-03-20
Mary Trump spun a perfect view of a family in crisis. Since I have family members who grew up in this part of the country, her background and verbal pictures of family life rang true. She didn't try to sensationalize but told the story with measured response and a calm overview. It was helpful to see such perspective on a broken family that many of us can relate to. It comes through very clearly how worried she is about the country.

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

Me2 Plus
Revisado: 08-03-20
I thought this book was just about the outing of Harvey Weinstein but it is much much more. I can't imagine any other man being able to out these predators so skillfully and still be able to be humble about his own part in the silence. This goes so much beyond the Hollywood scandal into the workplace of every woman and the seamy cover-ups that go with this kind of sordid behavior. At first I thought the dialect Ronan used for each character a little strange, but as I listened further it seemed true to his character and helped differentiate the many characters in this story of multiple plots. Excellent story telling.

Historia
As President Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton spent many of his 453 days in the room where it happened, and the facts speak for themselves. The result is one of the few White House memoirs to date by a top-level official. With almost daily access to the president, John Bolton has produced a precise rendering of his days in and around the Oval Office. What Bolton saw astonished him: a president for whom getting reelected was the only thing that mattered, even if it meant endangering or weakening the nation.

Really Bolton!
Revisado: 08-03-20
This really isn't a "story." It is a running diary of what happened every day of John Bolton's work-life while working in the White House. As a former government worker, it is interesting to see the routine of the White House staff. However, Bolton is not a skilled writer or storyteller. He is also extremely pompous and over impressed with his government prowess and importance. If you are looking for a tell-all, this isn't it. But it does give you a good government slice of life. .
