Horrible characters
Revisado: 03-24-25
I really wanted to like this book because I love a good witchy mystery, but I hated these characters so much! The female main character wasn’t too bad but just unlikable. The main male character was so awful. I stopped about halfway through because I couldn’t deal with it anymore. I am all for a strong male personality, but he was just arrogant, ignorant, hateful, demeaning, and inconsiderate! Even in what I’m assuming were supposed to be soft moments, he came across as a dick. I also don’t mind a well written sex scene and I would hardly consider myself a prude. But these characters were so crude and some of the ways that they talked about sex was very offputting. I would have really liked to have seen what happened with the coven, but I feel like that is not at all with this book was about. I just got tired of waiting. I am several hours into it and they have just gotten to the first murder!I’m really glad I didn’t pay for this!!

Historia
Four months have passed since the shadow stone fell into Kell's possession. Four months since his path crossed with Delilah Bard. Four months since Rhy was wounded and the Dane twins fell, and the stone was cast with Holland's dying body through the rift, and into Black London. In many ways, things have almost returned to normal, though Rhy is more sober, and Kell is now plagued by his guilt.

Sooo slow
Revisado: 03-28-24
I really like to first one but I just can’t get into this one. I’m 9 hours in and have had to go back way too many times because my attention has wandered. I don’t remember Lyla being so arrogant and selfish in the first book but I really don’t like her in this one. I shouldn’t be rooting for her opponents but I feel like she needs to be brought down a notch or two. I do like the addition of Ry’s perspective. I’ll finish the series but I’m not looking forward to it.

Disappointed that I wasted a credit in this…
Revisado: 08-15-23
SPOILERS!! I thought this was going to be a cute rom com and couldn’t be more wrong. I don’t think it was funny at all. The main character was really unlikable. I think part of it was the way she talked. I tend cuss as much as the next girl but it really caught me off guard in this book and it seemed so unnecessary… she was really crude. I felt the whole storyline of the stigma related to reading romance novels was stupid, especially the big scandal at the end. The scene with the school board was just infuriating to me as a teacher. She shows them no respect after doing something totally inappropriate at the lake but she’s so brave because she talked about romance novels. Nope! Narrator did well with the accents.

Historia
It's early September in Glenkillen, Scotland, when American expat (and romance novelist) Eden Elliott is recruited by the local inspector to act as a special constable. Fortunately it's in name only, since not much happens in Glenkillen. For now Eden has her hands full with other things: preparing for the sheepdog trial on the MacBride farm, a fundraiser for the hospice, and helping her friend Vicki with her first yarn club skein-of-the-month deliveries. Everything seems to be going well until the head of the welcoming committee is found strangled to death with a club member's yarn.

Decent story but the main character is awful!
Revisado: 08-03-23
I somewhat enjoyed the first book, even thought I didn’t care for the main character, so I decided to give the second a chance. It was even worse! The mysteries are decent, even though the premise of a romance writer becoming so involved in a police case was very unbelievable. It would have made more sense if she were a mystery writer! And Eden Elliot is the worst. She selfish, judgemental, rude and arrogant. And it’s even worse in this book because it he power of her new position when to her head. Her attitude toward Shawn was really frustrating! If if he was a little bumbling, he had more experience and she showed him zero respect. I kept waiting for her to have to deal with consequences for her arrogance, thinking it was a character flaw that she would overcome but I guess she was just written that way…

This collections was a commitment that I’m not sure I was ready for
Revisado: 07-26-23
These books were okay. I really didn’t care much for the main character and her family but I was interested in where the story was going. The idea of this “small” dying town that gets all these big events was just stupid. The dialogue gets annoying at times, especially with Kira and Aunt Kass. There were a few story lines that dragged on across all the books, such a John Smith, that were resolved in like the last couple chapters. I hate when authors do this because we get some invested then the resolution seems like an after thought. I listened to all of them and just felt kind of disappointed at the end

An interesting take on a classic story.
Revisado: 07-26-23
I really liked this book! I’ve always thought Peter Pan was kind a brat so it was interesting to read a story that portrayed him in such a negative light. I was a little bummed that Hook was always so sad or mad or conflicted and didn’t get much of a chance to be the pirate that he dreamed of! The love story was a little meh but overall I a great book!

Love this character and series
Revisado: 05-19-23
I have really enjoyed this series!! Loved the main character and his sense of humor. I was really distracted by the narrator in this book. I know they were trying to play up the LA tone but I really hated it. Why did every female character sound like a Donald Trump impersonator? Yuck!

It was just too much
Revisado: 05-09-23
I wanted to like the story but there was so much inner monologue that I found myself jumping ahead to find actual conversation. For a book this long very little actually happened! I like an expressive narration but this was a bit much.

Revisado: 04-21-23
So funny that everyone is complaining about the change in narrator and I didn’t even notice! And I listened to them back to back! I came to see if everyone hated the characters as much as I did… I really enjoyed the story but this book could have been so much enjoyable and a LOT shorter had the author taken even half of the whining and complaining and moody introspection!!! And Enn, seriously one of my least favorite main characters in a long time! Loved Harvey though! :)
