Historia
An enforcer wanted dead for crimes she didn’t commit.... An assassin wanted dead for crimes he did commit.... Normally, they would be enemies, but they both seek the same thing: exoneration. Unfortunately, a nefarious underground organization is attempting to kill the one man who could grant it to them - the emperor. If they want to win their freedom, they’ll have to battle powerful wizards, outscheme master schemers, and defeat bloodthirsty monsters, all while dodging friendly fire and evading the law. Exoneration isn’t easy.

An unexpected disappointment from Lindsay
Revisado: 09-14-23
I read the Dragon's Blood novels by Lindsay Buroker and LOVED them. She had a strong female lead with an engaging array of supporting characters. The stories were "edge of your seat" fare.
I, therefore, had high expectations for The Emperor's Edge. It has been a major disappointment. The narrator is excellent. The Female lead is a simpering dishrag. She gathers a strong supporting cast around her, but the endless internal monolog of the heroine is tiring. You find yourself staying with the book to find out what happens to the supporting cast and wishing that the lead character would lock herself in a room and be quiet, or just surrender herself to the enforcers and put everyone else out of their misery.

Twenty Million Tons Under the Sea is the amazing account of American U-Boat hunter Daniel V. Gallery during World War 2. His "hunter-killer" force boarded and captured a German submarine.

Classic Gallery Greatness... Terrible narrator
Revisado: 06-22-22
I've been a fan of Daniel Gallery's books for 50 years. He is a master at both fact and fiction storytelling about the Navy. This book is as good as any others he's written. In fact, I would love to see other titles such as "Clear the Decks" and "Eight Bells" available on Audible.
Just please, ditch this narrator! The voice is wooden and his pronunciation of German terms is bad enough, but his pronunciation of naval terminology is terrible. And the strange thing is that after hearing him mispronounce Schooner dozens of times, at one point (and only one) he actually pronounces it correctly. His timing is also stilted. It's as though he is seeing the text for the very first time.

Historia
Acclaimed, New York Times best-selling fantasist Raymond E. Feist gets his masterful Serpentwar Saga off to a spectacular start with Shadow of a Dark Queen. Feist’s classic epic fantasy adventure returns listeners to ever-imperiled Midkemia, a breathtaking, richly imagined realm of magic and intrigue, where two unlikely heroes must rally the forces of the land to stand firm against a malevolent race of monsters intent upon conquest and annihilation.

Not exactly classic Sword & Sorcery
Revisado: 08-18-20
This was a good listen. The narrator needs some polish, but I didn't find him as distracting as some reviewers. The author jumps the story around trying to keep the various characters involved and the reader up to date on all the action. He's not as smooth as Tolkien, but does well. Basically the story is engaging, well-developed, and worth the time. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Listen to Dave Dawson on Guadalcanal with a movie-style soundtrack and amplify your audiobook experience. Featuring an American who volunteers for service in the British Royal Air Force, the Dave Dawson series of wartime action-adventure novels have remained a favorite of fans for decades. In this volume of the series, Dawson sees lots of aerial warfare action in the bitter conflict over Guadalcanal in the southwestern Pacific.

Great Story... terrible reader
Revisado: 01-24-20
I have read all of Robert Sidney Bowen's "Dave Dawson" books... multiple times. You have to first suspend your current sensibilities and recall that these were written both during and right after WWII.
That said, the stories are well written and were aimed at a young audience. They are full of action and the lighthearted relationship between the two main characters.
Knowing these stories so well (having grown up with them), I was looking forward to hearing this one read to me. The story is all there, but the narration is, frankly, terrible.
First, there is some sort of soundtrack that haunts the background of the narration. It is totally unnecessary and distracts from the reading. Unfortunately, the soundtrack may have been added to make up for the terrible narration. The reader sounds more like a poorly programmed AI than a human with a feel for the material. He apparently cannot read punctuation. His delivery is stilted and robotic. There is no feel for the words on the page and the whole thing falls flat. For a war story with desperate action and undying friendship, the reading is just about as flat and emotionless as it can be.
I would like to see all of Bowen's books as Audible offerings, but please suggest that this reader find a different profession.

Bilbo Baggins, a gentle hobbit who loves the comforts of home, reluctantly joins a company of dwarves on a journey to recover plundered gold from a fierce dragon. It's a tale of high adventure and astonishing courage, and a magical prelude to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Truly bizarre
Revisado: 01-12-20
I was enchanted by the dramatized version of “Dune”. This misguided attempt at dramatizing a classic of fantasy is, to put it bluntly, a travesty.
The book says it is “abridged”... mangled would be a better description. I admit that I listened to over half of it before I finally gave up and returned it. It simply became too painful to listen to.
