Fantasic hard sci-fi
Revisado: 05-13-23
Outstanding audiobook. Writing is great and the performance nails it.
Story is exactly what you want in some good-ole-fashioned hard sci-fi. A little sex, a little science, a little politics, and a lot of action.
10/10, would mind-wipe and experience it again if i could.

As listeners hear these stories unfurl, Gladwell examines one of the greatest moral challenges in modern American history.

It's like npr wrote a "history" involving bombers. What a waste of time. Do yourself a favor and skip this one if you have any real understanding of WW2

Outstanding overview from the legions perspective
Revisado: 08-21-22
Most histories on this content, looking at these dates focus on Cesar. This book was great because it focused on the legions. I learned many new things from this perspective, and really enjoyed the narration.

Long, detailed, and worth it
Revisado: 09-21-18
This massive tome is not for the lighthearted. Its content is a true history, and therefore does not make easy listening. Yet it is the single most comprehensive telling of the third riech, and it's leader, from conception through to grim end.
A must read if you are a ww2 buff such as my self. This book has forever changed how I see the war, and Hitler. I now have copious anacdotes to draw on when reading other histories that fill in the gaps.
This is truly a masterpiece. A must read for any real ww2 buff.

Loved the series. Peter F Hamilton at his finest. Great arc, epic characters, perfect reading.
The ending feels overly conjured given the build up, but it works. Will listen again in a few years just to see what I missed.
