Luckily it was free!
Revisado: 07-20-24
The story lacked development or character throughout, and was incredibly predictable until the last sentence. It’s a feel-good book, but it’s got a murder and some “suspense”. The narrator cannot do make voices and generally lacked the emotional responses or empathy that you’d expect for a character that is going through a very difficult time

Terrible voices by the narrator
Revisado: 04-23-24
Storyline was good, but not the best in the series. I didn’t have an issue like others mentioned with the flashbacks. They were pretty obvious by the second one. Overall the story was longer than it needed to be, and was more predictable than others.
The narrator though, ruined the flow of the book. I don’t normally write reviews, but dang, Jeffries and Lena’s voices both sounded like she was emulating a dying goat. What happened to Kathleen, she nailed the entire series!

Historia
Jay Chandler, an American archaeologist excavating an ancient Greek temple, is surprised to find himself invited to a weeklong party on an exotic island paradise owned by eccentric tycoon Alexander Krisos. The annual event - swarmed with European nobility, Texas oilmen, ballerinas and bullfighters, millionaire politicos in exile, Japanese potentates, artists, and gorgeous models - is the sort of orgiastic party many would kill to attend. But no one really expects murder to become part of the festivities…until it does.

it never ends
Revisado: 04-09-22
the story drags on and on until you look down and realize there's still two hours left of a book that has no point

Historia
Fledgling reporter Fletch's first big interview is with a millionaire lawyer with a crooked streak and an itch to give away some of his ill-gotten gains. He ends up dead in the News-Tribune's parking lot before Fletch can ask question number one. So Fletch goes after the murderer instead and ends up learning a thing or two about crime and punishment. At the same time, he's supposed to be covering (or maybe uncovering) a health spa that caters to all its clients' needs and gets hired as a very personal trainer.

Much better than the previous "Carioca"!
Revisado: 04-18-21
This was another classic Fletch book that has a similar pace of the first 4 or 5 in the series. Glad I powered through the last!

Historia
It's Carnival time in Rio, and Fletch has plenty of money, thanks to a little arrangement he made stateside. But between the American widow who seems to be following Fletch and the Brazilian widow who's fingered Fletch as her long-dead husband, he suddenly doesn't have much time to enjoy the present or even get a wink of sleep. A 30-year-old unsolved murder, a more recent suicide, an inconvenient heart attack - somehow Fletch is connected to all of them, and one of those connections might just shorten his own life.

Going downhill
Revisado: 04-14-21
This story wasn't nearly as good of satisfying as the previous books. It's set in a laid back Brazilian carnival, so the story flounders from point to point, much more than the other Fletch books before it! The narrator was great, as usual!

Historia
Have you ever wished you could live in an earlier, more romantic era? Ladies, welcome to the 19th century, where there's arsenic in your face cream, a pot of cold pee sits under your bed, and all of your underwear is crotchless. (Why? Shush, dear. A lady doesn't question.) Unmentionable is your hilarious, scandalously honest (yet never crass) guide to the secrets of Victorian womanhood.

Not the best
Revisado: 08-07-18
Not the best book, in the first couple chapters it mentions too much about bowel movements. Not exactly the humor that I was looking for....
