Historia
For as long as Augusten Burroughs could remember, he knew things he shouldn't have known. He manifested things that shouldn't have come to pass. And he told exactly no one about this, save one person: his mother. His mother reassured him that it was all perfectly normal, that he was descended from a long line of witches, going back to the days of the early American colonies. And that this family tree was filled with witches. It was a bond that he and his mother shared - until the day she left him in the care of her psychiatrist to be raised in his family.

The Audio Should Be Re-Recorded
Revisado: 10-25-19
I have to say I have LOVED Augusten's other books. LOVED. I went back to listen to see if he always reads them like this though and sure enough he didn't. I came to read the reviews just to see if it was just me and my boyfriend. Apparently not. I skipped ahead and it looks like it gets better further along, but the first several chapters at least have been like listening to an enthusiastic 7 year old reading to a 3 year old and trying to over-emphasize things one word at a time. It's truly bizarre. I would be surprised if it isn't updated eventually because I could see the first 5 or so chapters turning off readers who then never get through the rest of the book. But I have enough faith in Augusten to persist through it, but yikes. Can't believe no one else, like the audio guy or whoever, didn't catch this.

Historia
With a rare mix of honesty, humor, and compassion, comedian and movie star Russell Brand mines his own wild story and shares the advice and wisdom he has gained through his 14 years of recovery. Brand speaks to those suffering along the full spectrum of addiction - from drugs, alcohol, caffeine, and sugar addictions to addictions to work, stress, bad relationships, digital media, and fame. Brand understands that addiction can take many shapes and sizes and how the process of staying clean, sane, and unhooked is a daily activity.

A Modern Take on 12 Steps
Revisado: 11-21-18
One of the best, modernized, approaches to the 12 step program. Russell attempts to tackle things such as the "higher power" that has prevented many people from my generation from feeling like they could apply the program to their atheistic/agnostic/spriitual worldview.

Historia
Russia expert Luke Harding lays out the most in-depth look to date at the Trump campaign's dealings with Russia. Beginning with a meeting with Christopher Steele, the man behind the shattering dossier that first brought the allegations to light, Harding probes the histories of key Russian and American players with striking clarity and insight. Harding exposes the disquieting details of the Trump-Russia story - a saga so huge it involves international espionage, offshore banks, sketchy real estate deals, mobsters, money laundering, disappeared dissidents, and more.

Amazing book, highly recommended
Revisado: 12-08-17
It is detailed but never tedious and is an unbelievable and exciting nightmare of a tale. If only it weren't also true.

the best way to quit!
Revisado: 08-24-17
this book made quitting a breeze 8 years ago. I smoked last year at a wedding stupidly not following the rules that there is no such thing as one cigarette, so I'm back to the book again. just finished and it's just as good as I remembered it and have no doubt it worked again. now if I just keep in mind the rule I forgot so I'm not back again in 8 more years.
