I continue to grow in appreciation of this author. The only problem with the story is that I devoured it in two and a half days. It was simply too enjoyable. :-)

I love the Miss Fortune series. However, part of why I love it is because it's a pretty clean series. This book had harsher language than the others. Just in case you are someone that matters to. :-)

I was skeptical when I realized this book didn't have some of my favorite characters in from previous series. it was a pleasant surprised when Sanjay appeared but this new series has a charm all its own. I loved it!

Disappointing Listen

I am a big fan of the Miss Fortune series. I love the characters and the rhythm of the stories. I had hoped for more of the same with this new series and was quite disappointed. I appreciate an author's desire to branch into new genres and expand his or her audience, but this book felt like it was written by an entirely different author. The kindness and whit from some of Ms DeLeon's other writings was missing. The romance felt cheap and I couldn't bring myself to care much about any of the characters. It's possible that the narrator contributed to my inability to connect but I think it was also connected to the storyline. Some people may love this book but I did not. I'm not a fan of steamy sex scenes. In this book, the way the main character drooled over her love interest made me nauseous.

The story might have been fine but I stopped reading it before I got through the first chapter because of the language. If foul language doesn't bother you then this book might be okay. But I certainly would not want one of my children reading it!
