A greedy, philandering Baptist minister, Elmer Gantry turns to evangelism and becomes the leader of a large Methodist congregation. Often exposed as a fraud, he is never fully discredited. Elmer Gantry is considered a landmark American novel and one of the most penetrating studies of hypocrisy in modern literature. It portrays the evangelistic activity that was common in 1920s America as well as attitudes toward it.

This book covers in a humorous way a man's journey out of the Mormon Church into atheism. In addition he was a Mormon temple worker, married six times, father of 14 children, two of which were adopted, and holds two master's degrees from BYU, in child development and human psychology. He has many books about what it was like growing up in in Utah being a Mormon and describes all their crazy ways.

On April 1st, 2016 Travis Wayne Goodsell gave an entire symposium by himself. The subject was the Book of Abraham. Travis' discovery of how Joseph Smith made his translation explains the mystery of Joseph's work. Lecture five is about how facsimile number three in the Book of Abraham can be identified within the translation of the Book of Mormon. Facsimile number three is a representation of the Egyptian Temple ritual, called the Judgment Scene.

Next to Joseph Smith, Brigham Young is one of the best known Mormon leaders and perhaps the most important. After Smith's death, it was Young who led Mormon pioneers westward in a journey that the Latter Day Saints often likened to the Exodus, and Young became popular as "American Moses". At the same time, Young and his group were involved in a seemingly never ending list of controversies, both of their own making and the misconceptions of so many Americans who were unfamiliar with the religion.
