I found the overall story engaging, though, as with his other novels, there are too many storylines left hanging and with little intersection or relevance to the main plot. The voices of the narrators were too similar, although could be distinguished by the fact that one knows how to read aloud, and the other was painful to endure. I find Barclay’s books interesting enough to finish, but also look forward to getting them completed to move onto something else. Having finally completed the Promise Falls series, it’s time to move onto a different author.

Narration is not good.

Very poor narration

The subject matter is thoroughly presented and has very valuable information for anyone suffering through narcissistic abuse. The narration is terrible however. The narrator stumbles through words like listening to a fifth grader read an encyclopedia aloud in class. He consistently mispronounces "narcissism", which got irritating, considering it's the most frequently used word in the book. I may pick up the paper copy of the book to keep a a resource.
