The story was amazing but the narrator was average

As someone who has backpacked most of that area of the Sierra Nevada mountains it was fun to live through it again. Some of the landmarks are a little off but the story was incredibly good in fact it was riveting. The end was somewhat of a surprise but but I especially loved that I could picture where the bad guy trekked in order to try to make his escape. I've been there, too.

I would love to read more or listen to another book by this same author about this same area of the mountains. Any of Mineral King, black rock pass, little 5 lakes, the 9 lake basin, Kern canyon.... you get the picture!

I only have one criticism. The narrator's voice kept changing.. It was as if there was a lot of stopping and starting while recording the book. I liked the narrator's voice; it just needed to be edited better.

Definitely not Dorithy Gilman's best

Amazing

This is one of the most significant books I have ever read or listened to in my Christian life. Thank you Steve Wiens for your insight and openness to the leading of the Holy Spirit while writing this book. There were so many times during the listening to/reading of this book that I felt as if God was speaking directly to me. I can truthfully say that I will most likely listen to this book many times over the next few months and years. Now I am being challenged to go into my Promised Land leaving that which is familiar and comfortable to a place that God will show me. It's terrifying and exciting at the same time. Thank you so much for being the spiritual impetus of getting me up out the door toward my Promised Land.

This book started very well but ended up being nothing but soft p***. I'm very disappointed. I have better things to do with my time probably won't read a Nicholas Sparks book for a while.

magic once again from beginning to end

Louis L'Amour captures my imagination like few authors can. This book was no exception.. Although I've read many of his books, this was the first time for this one . I'm so glad I purchased it as it pulled some of his other books together for me.
