Historia
1315 BC: Tensions soar between the great powers of the Late Bronze Age. The Hittites stand toe-to-toe with Egypt, Assyria and Mycenaean Ahhiyawa, and war seems inevitable. More, the fierce Kaskan tribes—age-old enemies of the Hittites—amass at the northern borders. When Prince Hattu is born, it should be a rare joyous moment for all the Hittite people. But when the Goddess Ishtar comes to King Mursili in a dream, she warns that the boy is no blessing, telling of a dark future where he will stain Mursili’s throne with blood and bring destruction upon the world.

I like the character development and the historical setting. Don’t miss the afterword that delineates the line between fact and fiction. The narrator is excellent!

Historia
Should I have taken the false teeth?" This is what Dr. Jonathan Hullah, a former police surgeon, thinks after he watches Father Hobbes die in front of the High Altar at Toronto's St. Aidan's on the morning of Good Friday. How did the good father die? We do not learn the answer until the very end of this "Case Book" of a man's rich and highly observant life.
But we learn much more about many things, and especially about Dr. Hullah.

Excellent story, tech glitch
Revisado: 03-05-24
Loved the book—strong characters, fascinating dialogue, good plot. There were half a dozen places where the narrator repeated a short section. I thought, at first, that my 30-second rewind accidentally got pushed, but then it did it where this was not possible. If the editor missed these repeats, it is sloppy work indeed. If it was my device, I apologize for the criticism.

What is Rick Mercer going to do now? That was the question on everyone's lips when the beloved comedian retired his hugely successful TV show after 15 seasons - and at the peak of its popularity. The answer came not long after, when he roared back in a new role as stand-up-comedian, playing to sold-out houses wherever he appeared. And then COVID-19 struck. And his legions of fans began asking again: What is Rick Mercer going to do now? Well, for one thing, he's been writing a comic masterpiece.

Revisado: 03-25-21
I’m enjoying this whole series, but this is my favourite so far. Gene Engene has done an exceptional job of the narration and I will miss him in the next books of the series. This was truly one of those where I could not stop listening.

I wasn’t crazy about this narrator at first, but he has really grown in me. I found this plot line a little more predictable than the previous ones, hence the four stars there. Overall I am really enjoying this series.

Revisado: 04-19-18
I usually don’t like an author to read his own work, but this book is an exception. Not only is Comey a good reader, his personal presence adds weight to these important, thought-provoking words. I only pray his optimism at the end proves prophetic.

Truly a modern saga.
Revisado: 11-20-17
It's not a happy story, nor a pretty story, but it is very engaging. In the form of the Nordic sagas, it takes historical fact and builds a plausible character driven story. The volume of research that went into it gives even more validity to the writer's engrossing narrative.
I also have to say that the narrator was superb. Not only was her handling of the Icelandic names, phrases and places excellent, but she gave great emotional interpretation in the telling.
Overall, it was worth our time to listen to this one. If you don't like dark stories, you may want to pass, but if you like delving into the characters, this will be a satisfying choice.

Excellent
Revisado: 06-07-15
I liked the no-nonsense approach to business complemented with the depth of research and well-argued, non-traditional insights that ring true when considered thoughtfully.
While the author is a great writer, he has some vocal rhythms that are not as good as a professional voice actor. The book would benefit from another reader unless the author wants to invest in improving his own performance.
That is my only criticism, and as you can see from my scoring, I think he is quite good, just not quite as good as the material itself.
Thank you Josh. I'm an entrepreneur building my second business with partners and your insights will help take us to the next level.
