Historia
For the past 10 years, leading Canadian journalist and cultural critic John Doyle has been traveling the globe to observe World Cup and other soccer matches played at the highest level. The result is a Bill Bryson-esque narrative full of wit and insight, concluding with the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In between his encounters with the delirious fans, the crazed taxi drivers, the leprechauns and the lederhosen, Doyle examines the evolution of soccer as a global phenomenon.

Some great stories but best for a true soccer fan
Revisado: 05-21-15
This is a fascinating chronology of major events in soccer from a unique perspective. However, although the writer attempts to simplify certain terms and examples, it takes a certain amount of preexisting knowledge to understand it all.

Historia
Last summer, The New Yorker published chef Anthony Bourdain's shocking, "Don't Eat Before Reading This." Now, the author uses the same "take-no-prisoners" attitude in his deliciously funny and shockingly delectable audiobook, sure to delight gourmands and philistines alike.

Scintillating and Interesting Throughout
Revisado: 05-07-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Kitchen Confidential to be better than the print version?
Yes because Bourdain reads the book himself so the intonations and pace are exactly as intended.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Bourdain - it's his book about his experiences.
What does Anthony Bourdain bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
This book is more like a series of essays instead of a story from beginning to end so the words gain a certain amount of animation that they wouldn't have otherwise.
