Historia
Paris Minton is a man who would just as soon walk away from trouble as stand up to it. But in 1950s Los Angeles, sometimes trouble just comes and gets you. When one of L.A.'s wealthiest women hires Paris and his friend Fearless Jones to find a missing nephew, Paris steps into the a complex and terrifying corner of the black bourgeoisie, and wonders whom he should fear more - the people he's looking for or the people he's working for.

GOOD READ
Revisado: 11-16-21
Fear Itself, read by Don Cheadle, was an excellent detective story. Mosley's use of location, i.e., Los Angeles CA, the times -- early 60's -- and the interplay between Fearless and Perris and the other characters is totally believable and masterfully rendered. Looking forward to reading more in the Fearless Jones saga.

Historia
Picking up where Rose Gold left off in LA in the late 1960s, Ezekiel "Easy" Rawlins finds his life in transition. He's ready to - finally - propose to his girlfriend, Bonnie Shay, and start a life together. And he's taken the money he got from the Rose Gold case and has, together with two partners, started a new detective agency. But inevitably a case gets in the way: Easy's friend, Mouse, introduces him to Rufus Tyler, a very old man everyone calls Charcoal Joe.

Charcoal Joe is pure Mosley at it's best
Revisado: 09-06-21
Reading an Easy Rawlins mystery is like riding on the roller coaster at the amusement park. It starts out with the introduction to a new character or situation in his life that rapidlty devolves into a sorded, twisted mess. As the protagonist in the episode, Easy must call on all the, life lessons, luck, "mother wit," and skill developed through years of living "Black" in America. Because of who he is, and his particular ability to help them, he has developed a network of friends who are always on hand to assist him to prevail in the face of the odds being stacked against him.
Mosley completely fleshes out each character that be introduced to the point that you get a clear of them. As the yarn develops, you can anticipate certain situations developing; however, you can never guess where the plot is going to twist next.
This is a very satisfying read, the narrator is skilled and handles Mosley's plethora of characters with ease. I highly recommed that you read the entire series so that you get a deeper understanding of the pre-Watts Riot Los Angeles scene from the perspective of the Black population. Charcoal Joe is set in the Loa Angeles a couple years after the riot. The changes that affected the city did little to change the dynamic. that existed between the Blacks and the Police Department. They were still a visible part of the problem in the various neighborhoods that Black called home.

Historia
We last saw Easy in 2007’s Blonde Faith, fighting for his life after his car plunges over a cliff. True to form, the tough WWII veteran survives, and soon his murderous sidekick Mouse has him back cruising the mean streets of L.A., in all their psychedelic 1967 glory, to look for a young black man, Evander "Little Green" Noon, who disappeared during an acid trip. Fueled by an elixir called Gator’s Blood, brewed by the conjure woman Mama Jo, Easy experiences a physical, spiritual, and emotional resurrection, but peace and love soon give way to murder and mayhem.

ASIMOV'S FOUNDATION IS A MASTERPIECE
Revisado: 08-27-21
The story of the First and Second Foundations continues in this third installment. Riveting until the end it holds the reader until the final sentence. Asimov has the ability to weave credible tales around the science fiction backdrop without overpowering the reader in overly far-fetched (and therefore unbelievable) science.

Historia
It is the distant future, and Baird is a loner, a part time spy, and a notorious alleged thief. “Notorious” for the audacity of her crimes; “alleged” because nobody has ever been able to legally prove she committed any of them. When the hush-hush agency known as the Toolbox recruits Baird, being a clandestine operative seems like a great way to get paid to do what she already does anyway. That is, until a mission goes wrong, and Baird is infected with a deadly virus.

GREAT READ TIL THE END
Revisado: 08-20-21
I enjoyed the character, the science was acceptable, believable to a point and didn't get in the way. The plot was engrossing and satisfactorily resolved thru the efforts of the protagonist.

This was a great story to read while on dialysis. It was part space opera and a detective story rolled into one. The plot was good; characters were interesting and complex for this kind of story. The narration was on point and kept me involved in the action until the end.

The story was unexpectedly touching. The ending touched on the age-old question, can a machine experience emotions?
