Historia
What is this world? What kind of place is it? The round kind. The spinning kind. The moist kind. The inhabited kind. The kind with flamingos (real and artificial). The kind where water in the sky turns into beautifully symmetrical crystal flakes sculpted by artists unable to stop themselves (in both design and quantity). The kind of place with tiny, powerfully jawed mites assigned to the carpets to eat my dead skin as it flakes off....

Chesterton back from the Dead
Revisado: 07-10-20
This work has all the pith and insight of Chesterton's "Orthodoxy", with the other-worldly beauty of Lewis's "Last Battle" in regards to eschatology proper (the eternal state specifically). This review would be longer except I'm really just wanting to listen again.

Historia
Bitterness often grows out of a small offense: perhaps a passing word, an accidental shove, or a pair of dirty socks left in the middle of the living room floor. Yet when bitterness takes root in our hearts, its effects are anything but small. In this collection of short articles, Jim Wilson and others discuss what it means to live as "imitators of God." As the Apostle Paul says in Ephesians, "We have been called to leave the bitterness and anger of the world and instead embrace the love and compassion of our God".

Priceless Pastoral wisdom for every Christian.
Revisado: 04-25-20
Bitterness has impacted the lives and relationships of every person faced with the need to offer forgiveness. And, the profound need for fellow sinners to understand the depth of what forgiveness is, makes bitterness the bane of many a Christian's affections. This short book is purely Pastoral wisdom in a call to repent, and practical wisdom in forsaking bitterness and unforgiveness. Pastor Jim Wilson touches on specific relationships as well as indicators that this spiritual malady may be at work in your life. Ben Zornes is always an excellent narrator. I've read it twice in the last 10 hours, and I can't wait to read it again with my wife. This is becoming quite typical of Canon Press books, for me.

Historia
In this audiobook, Douglas Wilson combines G. K. Chesterton-like prose with the Apostles' Creed and explains such doctrines as the trinity, creation, fall, salvation, Scripture, and the church with clarity and imagination. Rather than seeing fundamentalist doctrines as a narrow and confining straitjacket, Wilson sees them as the only way for people to find true freedom and joy.

Excellent. A glorious introduction to the faith.

I was moved to tears multiple times in this unfolding of the "once delivered to the saints, faith." Growing up in the church, but converted at 21, I only wish I had read this 10 years ago. Can't wait to reread.

Historia
In this short audiobook on childrearing, Douglas Wilson points out that we have a Father who delights in us and makes it easy for us to love and obey him. If that is the kind of Father we have, shouldn't we earthly parents do the same? Wilson explains how parents should not just try to get their kids to obey a set of rules or to make their house so fun that following the rules is always easy. Instead, he calls for parents to instill in their kids a love for God and His standards that will serve them well all their days.

Loving your children as the Lord's Inheritance
Revisado: 04-16-20
My wife and I were raised in a form of Christianity one could call "individualistic." Repenting of this, we together saw that the Scriptural promise was to us AND OUR CHILDREN. We had not previously thought through the implications this would have (practically as well as theologically) in raising children. This book is gold, but far too short. Couple this work with, "The Federal Husband", "Future Men", "Reforming Marriage"... really anything Pastor Wilson writes on the Family, along with Joel Beeke's work on worship and raising children with the gospel, and enjoy a full, robust understanding of the covenantal family. If reforming the church is going to be anything more than a flash in the pan, we need to reform the way we raise our children.

Historia
It is no secret that our world desperately needs change. Politicians know this and use it to collect votes. Journalists exploit it to sell newspapers and magazines. Advertisers, to sell everything else. Each of these groups (and countless others) spend their lives working to convince others that they hold the key to a better country, a better life, a better future. But what exactly is this change we all long for? And how can it ever come about?

A Desperate Need in the Church Today
Revisado: 04-07-20
Worship is a direct reflection of how we see the God we're worshipping. A true reformation of theology will be a reformation of worship. Pastor Wilson addresses this subject in a way that has completely transformed my church, and no doubt, many others. Mr. Bradley reads quite slowly which is no issue. Speeding the audio up to ×1.75 is perfect. Still giving the performance 5 stars was based on perfect Latin pronunciation. I only wish the this writing was longer and there were others like it. Favorite Pastor Wilson book yet!

Historia
The Christian faith proclaims a standing invitation to a grand and glorious banquet. But those who wish to attend this feast must first be washed. This washing is declared by the clean water of baptism. After we are washed, we may sit down at the Lord's Supper, consisting of red wine and broken bread. An invitation to this banquet is too gracious to be dismissed out of hand, and it is too profound to accept glibly. The Christian faith is a serious and demanding religion, founded on the gladness and delight of God.

Beautiful Summary of the Faith.
Revisado: 03-31-20
This short book is a perfect summary of what is often lacking in uber- Reformed circles. Everything from the introduction to the final invitation was Biblical and clear. Aaron Wells is so easy to listen to, and captures Pastor Wilson's meter very well. As is common with this author, this book was impossible to put down.

The Title says it all.
Revisado: 03-27-20
One of the key battles of recovering orthodoxy is restoring Biblical leadership in the church. This neglected qualification for leaders has touched ever church I've been apart of. Pastor Wilson handles this subject, from both the Old and New Testament, judiciously with extenuating circumstances considered. Jake McAtee is an excellent orator in every book I've heard him read. This is a must have for every pastor/ elder, and deacon... and the congregation since they are the one's voting.

The key to a good marriage is honest, complete, and humble confession of sin. This short, little audiobook, coming from a pastor with 40 years of experience, offers concrete practical suggestions about how to confess sin properly and how to avoid other snares married people tend to get snagged on, usually depending on whether they're the man or the woman.

The Premarital Counseling We Never Had
Revisado: 03-27-20
The title of this review is a bit facetious, yet on a serious note, if these principles are applied at the beginning, there will be no accumulated clutter. Pastor Wilson is the favorite for my wife and I when it comes to marriage, the family, and Covenantal Theology in general. The reading was consistent and clear. A perfect book to listen to together with your spouse instead of the television.

Knowledge of the Church's History: Essential
Revisado: 03-26-20
A brief summary of 2,000 years is nearly impossible. Dr. Ferguson provides the best synopsis possible, in my opinion. In a day where, especially American, Christians are so detached from any knowledge of Christ's Faithfulness to His church, this book is an excellent place for leaders and laypeople alike to begin their understanding. The orator was fantastic. I couldn't stop listening. When the book had finished, I immediately played it again. I've studied this subject in depth, and even taught church history in my congregation. For those immersed in more exhaustive works on this subject, and for people looking for where to begin, this book is a must. Psalm 110.1. HE will have Dominion.
