Historia
Hen and her husband, Lloyd, have settled into a quiet life in a new house outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Hen (short for Henrietta) is an illustrator and works out of a studio nearby and has found the right meds to control her bipolar disorder. Finally, she’s found some stability and peace. But when they meet the neighbors next door, that calm begins to erode as she spots a familiar object displayed on the husband’s office shelf. The sports trophy looks exactly like one that went missing from the home of a young man who was killed two years ago.

Could be a Netflix show
Revisado: 07-10-22
I was working in a client's house and she got a book by Kelly Simmons in the mail. I asked about the author and she said she is very good and she's local. being a small business owner, i always support local. So I asked her which book she recommends and she picked this one. Not only is the author local, but the book takes place locally (Wayne Pa). I definitely enjoyed it, I can picture it as a show on Netflix. I liked the grandma playing detective lol. I'm looking forward to checking out another title by Kelly Simmons.

This comes off as an amateur author's first crime novel. The concept is good, but the execution is awful. I turned it off in chapter 8. The words "bastard" and "son of a bitch" were so repetitive it started sounding like nails on a chalkboard. I just read a bunch of reviews saying there's no conclusion at the end, so I'm not even going to force myself to finish. Definitely returning this one.

Narration is cringy at times
Revisado: 07-14-21
Picture a car salesman telling scary stories to kids around a campfire in a movie trailer voice.... that's what the male narrator sounds like. It's very cheesy and takes away from the story a little bit. I'm not sure why there were 2 narrators, but the female narrator was very good (especially when reading the parts with the 10 year old girl).
This was a well crafted story, which I enjoyed despite some very cringy narration moments.
I recommend this book if you are willing to suspend disbelief and are ok with dark/graphic depictions of murder.

Misleading summary
Revisado: 07-21-16
What could Dan Howe have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
First of all I had to turn this book off after 2 hours because hearing "hear are the numbers" a thousand times was driving me nuts. This book is literally a book of all of his leads (how he aquired them, the location and if he made an offer). The only lesson to be learned here is that it takes a lot of time and effort to find a good deal.
Any additional comments?
Dan Howe has a podcast which I will gladly check out, but this book wasn't for me.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narration was really entertaining. I'm sure it was read exactly how the author intended.

Historia
There just isn't enough time for everything on our to-do list - and there never will be. Successful people don't try to do everything. They learn to focus on the most important tasks and make sure those get done. They eat their frogs. There's an old saying that if the first thing you do each morning is eat a live frog, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you're done with the worst thing you'll have to do all day. For Tracy, eating a frog is a metaphor for tackling your most challenging task - but also the one that can have the greatest positive impact on your life.

Bert Kreischer doesn't know how to say "no." If he did, he wouldn't have gotten himself mixed up with a group of Russian mobsters on a class trip to Moscow, earning him his nickname: "The Machine." He wouldn't have wrestled with a bear or swum with sharks on national television. He wouldn't have (possibly) smoked PCP with a star of Saturday Night Live. And he wouldn't have been named the Number One Partier in the Nation by Rolling Stone, inspired the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder, or performed standup to sellout crowds across the country.

bert Kreischer is hilarious
Revisado: 06-11-14
If you could sum up Life of the Party in three words, what would they be?
The fact that he is reading the book is perfect, since he's the only one who can tell his story right. He adlibs and makes side comment, it's great! He deserves everything he has.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Life of the Party?
Everything, even though I've heard a lot of the stories already, it's well done and well executed. A lot of audio books dint hold my attention as much as this one did. Stand Up tabs, this is a must have!
