Historia
When you think about Christmas, you likely picture mangers, glowing fireplaces, sweet carolers, and snow-blanketed hills. But behind all this bright magic, there’s something much darker lurking in the shadows. In The Dead of Winter, Cambridge-trained historian Sarah Clegg delves deep into the folklore of the Christmas season in Europe, detailing the way its terrifying and often debaucherous past continues to haunt and entertain us now in the twenty-first century.

Historia
The stories we read--and the conversations we have about them--help shape family traditions, create lifelong memories, and become part of our legacy. Reading aloud not only has the power to change a family—it has the power to change the world. But we all know that connecting deeply with our families can be difficult in our busy, technology-driven society. Reading aloud is one of the best ways to be fully present with our children, even after they can read themselves, but it isn't always easy to do.

misrepresented
Revisado: 01-22-24
I'm sure the book is fine but it didn't advertise itself as a Christian book. the survivors Christian views are a major theme at least in the first few chapters. I'm sure that's helpful and relevant to dinner but I personally wouldn't have chosen this book had I known that it was through a prominently Christian lens.

a helpful mindset shift
Revisado: 09-18-22
I followed the author's TikTok account for over a year and finally got around to listening to her audiobook. I am so glad that I did! this is such a different but definitely more helpful mindset around care test than what I was raised with. I highly recommend it to anyone who has struggled with care tasks in general for any reason. I would also highly recommend it to those who know or live with people who struggle with care tasks.
