Historia
Historians have long told the story of America’s birth as the triumph of Jefferson’s democratic ideals over the aristocratic intentions of Hamilton. Chernow presents an entirely different man, whose legendary ambitions were motivated not merely by self-interest but by passionate patriotism and a stubborn will to build the foundations of American prosperity and power.

Learn to approach the critical decisions in your life with a more seasoned, educated eye with this fascinating 24-lecture series that explores how individuals, groups, and organizations make effective decisions. The heart of this accessible series is a thorough examination of decision making at three key levels. First, you'll look at decisions made at the individual level, where, among the many things you'll learn is that intuition is more than just a gut instinct and, in fact, represents a powerful pattern recognition capability.

Good not great
Revisado: 12-22-15
I listen while I commute. One semi-objective criteria I have is whether the audiobook or course keeps me engaged and awake. By that criteria this course was only mediocre, since I had to switch to something else periodically to keep my mind alert. Sometimes felt repetitive, or like the rigorous analysis might have gone "squish" momentarily.
There was a lot of good material and some interesting case studies. I plan to find the cliff notes version and review it occasionally.

Great book, will test
Revisado: 05-21-15
Sounds great, and the few things I've already put into practice are working. She convinced me enough that I plan to outline the book and memorize the tools and strategies and when and how to use them. The real test of the book is how it works in practice, and I will find that out.
There is a little cheesiness to get past, but don't let it bother you.

It can be argued that one simple idea-the concept of freedom-has been the driving force of Western civilization and may be the most influential intellectual force the world has ever known. But what is freedom, exactly? These 36 engaging lectures tell the dramatic story of freedom from ancient Greece to our own day, exploring a concept so close to us we may never have considered it with the thoroughness it deserves.

Thoughtful, engaging tour
Revisado: 01-28-15
I suggest first listening to Famous Romans and Famous Greeks as a foundation for this wonderful course, although it would be beneficial even without them.
I love Prof. Fears. His good-humored, unique style of storytelling combined with his vast knowledge and wise insights keep me coming back for more. This course was certainly thought-provoking; don't expect it to be an affirmation of everything you already think. And be aware that you'll be left with a sense of responsibility for the future of freedom.
