Historia
In 1528, a mission set out from Spain to colonize Florida. But the expedition went horribly wrong: Delayed by a hurricane, knocked off course by a colossal error of navigation, and ultimately doomed by a disastrous decision to separate the men from their ships, the mission quickly became a desperate journey of survival. Of the 300 men who had embarked on the journey, only four survived - three Spaniards and an African slave.

spanish explorers who actually did some good?
Revisado: 12-21-22
I've always wondered if there was a story like this, having learned of all the horrible things spanish explorers did to native people in the americas. Well, this story is different. True, they probably would have done the same to the natives as all the others, if they hadn't met with so many difficulties. They did do some good for the natives though, partly to save themselves, partly b/c of their faith, but some good nevertheless. This is a unique story for those who are interested in the history of the americas, and def. worth a listen.

Should not be an audiobook
Revisado: 11-30-22
I dont know why they try to make books like this into audiobooks. The narrator constantly tells you to write something down in your worksheet. I didn't realize it was going to be like that. But you do now. So unless you will be listening to this while sitting with the worksheet and writing everything down, don't bother getting this on audio.

Rita Todacheene is a forensic photographer working for the Albuquerque police force. Her excellent photography skills have cracked many cases—she is almost supernaturally good at capturing details. In fact, Rita has been hiding a secret: she sees the ghosts of crime victims who point her toward the clues that other investigators overlook. As a lone portal back to the living for traumatized spirits, Rita is terrorized by nagging ghosts who won’t let her sleep and who sabotage her personal life.

Good combo of Crime Scene, Photog & Navajo story
Revisado: 11-21-22
I learned something new about traditional najavo beliefs from this book that surprised me. And I enjoyed hearing about her experience in the navajo nation. The photog /crime scene stuff is interesting and the story is pretty good. I normally dont like crime stories, but the american indian aspect drew me to this book. There is enough to keep you turning the pages (or listening). The narrator wasnt great though, she didnt change tones much during the reading, making the story feel more dry and lifeless than it needed to.

Revisado: 02-09-22
I wish i'd had this book when I was younger, it would have saved me alot of guilt and worry. She describes many experiences i've had as an introvert and why they don't mean there's something wrong with me (which is what I always thought).

Not sure what this book is about.
Revisado: 08-28-19
I got half way thru this book and realized I didn't know what it was about or why I was reading it. I like Andy Andrews and enjoy hearing him speak. But it took so long to get to the point that I got lost. I think the point is how to improve your organization/companies' results. But it was more like sitting down on the back porch with someone telling a long, wandering story. If you have the time and patience, it can be enjoyable, if not then you're just itching to get up and go.

Historia
Travis Barker's soul-baring memoir chronicles the highlights and lowlights of the renowned drummer's art and his life, including the harrowing plane crash that nearly killed him and his traumatic road to recovery. After breaking out as the acclaimed drummer of the multiplatinum punk band Blink-182, everything changed for Travis Barker. But the dark side of rock stardom took its toll: His marriage, chronicled for an MTV reality show, fell apart. Constant touring concealed a serious drug addiction. A reckoning did not truly come until he was forced to face mortality.

Read if u like Blink 182 & Travis' drumming
Revisado: 08-12-19
I liked hearing the music-related stories and Travis’ dedication to playing drums. I discovered some new music and rediscovered some old. The plane crash section is harrowing. His personal struggles and how he overcame them is inspiring. The audiobook is difficult to listen to at times, the switching from Travis to others is confusing. The narrator is fairly monotone throughout and does some odd interpretations of different speaker’s voices. Having the choice to read this book again for the first time I’d choose the paper version.

Revisado: 04-25-19
I usually dont buy these books w/curse words in the title, thinking its just a marketing ploy (like that stupid *badass book). But this one wasn't that. Its just the way the author speaks. This was better than expected, and although not too deep or life changing, it helped me get out of my head a little.

I can see this becoming a fun to watch Netflix miniseries. Like Umbrella Academy. Narrator did pretty good job with Chicago accents. The story is well put together, drawing you along all the way to the build up at the end. And it doesn't disappoint.

If it weren't for the narrator...
Revisado: 08-30-18
I like the premise of this book and the story. I wanted to listen to it, but I could not get past the narrator's style of speaking. He has a thick accent, which is ok, but every phrase and sentence begins and ends with the same intonation. The sentence starts evenly then goes up and drops down flat on the last word. It sounds like lazy reading, like someone is not even trying to get the emotion of the scene across, but is just getting through the next line. Its like listening to Count Chocula read a sci fi book. Kind of funny at first, then annoying, then I dreaded going back to the book to listen. More dissapointing, I found that this narrator recorded all of this author's books. So I guess I'll have to read them on paper instead. Oh well...

ok book about a mediums' experiences
Revisado: 05-19-18
short brief but good, worth a credit if you have questions about mediumship & are curious about the afterlife. the author is an authority on the subject, so the insights he shares are valuable. I do wish the book of been longer, and had more stories from readings. Too many details of his process. also would have preferred a professional narrator, the reading style of the author was not inviting, every sentence was like he was explaining something to the reader, instead of just talking to the reader.
