Excellent Book
Revisado: 09-20-21
While I am a frequent reader of Stephen King, I have to say that this has been one of my absolute favorites. The story was interesting and I fell in love with the main character, and supporting characters. Some reviewers didn't care for the narration, but I thought it was perfect for the book. I found the way Paul Sparks changed his voice for the different characters helped to create a richer listening experience. I would highly recommend this audio book. It's outside King's usual horror genre and it's excellent.

Historia
The residents of a sleepy mountain town are rocked by troubling visions of an alternate reality. At first, the visions are relatively benign, but they grow increasingly disturbing - and, in some cases, frightening. When a natural disaster threatens Clearing, it becomes obvious the visions were not what they first seemed and that the town will never be the same.

I rarely write reviews. But, this was one of the worst audible books I've listened to, and I wanted to warn others. The narrator is terrible, the story goes nowhere and I think the only reason I kept listening was to find out if it was all going to come to some profound point at the end. No.

I wouldn't recommend it.

I was disappointed with this book, especially after reading so many rave reviews. I found much of Judy's internal dialogue to be extremely repetitive, tedious and uninteresting. And the story was quite predictable. The secondary characters were very weak.

Difficult, Beautiful, Heart wrenching
Revisado: 09-30-17
Once I fell into the pace and writing style, I was transfixed by the characters and could not put this book down. Yes, the material is difficult and raw, but the writer creates such vivid intensity it's impossible to turn away. The melding of the stark, harsh beauty of nature with that of Turtle's life is perfect. This has been a favorite of the many books I've read this year.
