Historia
Among the unsettling social shifts in the wake of 9/11 was the global attention paid to Islam. Here in the United States, we became divided, often sadly along partisan lines, between those who believed every Muslim was a potential threat and those who believed no Muslim could do wrong. For conservative Wisconsin native and former U.S. Navy lieutenant commander Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, these radical times meant facing a new reality as a devout Muslim and a patriot - a certain betrayal within his faith.

Naive but hopeful
Revisado: 10-12-15
I give Dr. Jasser credit for being bold enough to present his view of Islam, because it has great contradiction with the Qur'an, Sunnah and Hadith, and will be seen as blasphemy by those who read the Qur'an literally and live the way the Qur'an says to live. Truth is, he is not practicing real Islam but his families version of islam: a soft, reformed, much kinder to "Dar al Harb" Islam. He believes that unbelievers should be treated in the same exact way as believers, by muslims. This is very nice thinking and I would hope that all moderate Muslims in north America could join his group and use his re-translated nice version of the Qur'an. Sadly, I don't think this will ever happen.

Brigitte Gabriel lost her childhood to militant Islam. Because They Hate is a political wake-up call. Brigitte warns that the United States is threatened by fundamentalist Islamic theology in the same way Lebanon was - radical Islam will stop at nothing short of domination of all non-Muslim countries.

WOW.
Revisado: 04-29-15
she certainly has an agenda, but it is this very agenda and her life experiences that produced it that make her impassioned plea so powerful. It is impossible to accurately judge a religion based on one or two books. But this book certainly makes me want to research Islam in much greater depth. Some of the concepts such as dishonesty is okay if it furthers Islam, or a later ruling in the Hadith overrules previous ones, are worth much further research and study. I have always wondered why moderate Muslims do not speak up more about their religion being hijacked. Her reasoning on this, that moderate Muslims are not so moderate and thus do not speak up much, seems to me to be quite strong. If Islam truly is as she says it is, and my intuition tells me there is more than a grain of truth in her depiction of Islam, then the Western world needs to wake up and smell the roses, or the thorns!

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

A beautiful experience!
Revisado: 02-14-15
Starts off a bit slow, but the story unfolds wonderfully and with great tenderness. We gain, through small baby steps, deep insights into characters and motivations. We get a taste of the magical web of connections that bind us to each other in this life and hopefully into the next. Makes me want to be a little more sensitive to see if I really can feel if these connections continue on in the next life. Like the author, I really hope and believe they do.

Didn't finish it. Lost interest. Reads kind of like an infomercial. Seems to me there is no way that anyone can use the findings to build talent.

Historia
At 24 years of age, U.S. Army Ranger Sean Parnell was named commander of a forty-man elite infantry platoon - a unit that came to be known as the Outlaws - and was tasked with rooting out Pakistan-based insurgents from a mountain valley along Afghanistan's eastern frontier. Parnell and his men assumed they would be facing a ragtag bunch of civilians, but in May 2006 what started out as a routine patrol through the lower mountains of the Hindu Kush became a brutal ambush.

WOW. What a story!!! Better than Enders Game!
Revisado: 12-11-12
A little slow at first, but bear with it cause it is just setting the stage. Great characters and story. Enders Game is mostly entertainment. This story is a wonderful look at tolerance and understanding of those who are different. A look at our ability to live with and love or hate those who are different from us. Different from, but better than Enders Game in its own way.

Who understood the risk inherent in the assumption of ever-rising real-estate prices, a risk compounded daily by the creation of those arcane, artificial securities loosely based on piles of doubtful mortgages? Michael Lewis turns the inquiry on its head to create a fresh, character-driven narrative brimming with indignation and dark humor, a fitting sequel to his number-one best-selling Liar’s Poker.

must read, makes me angry, pathetic USA regulators
Revisado: 11-12-12
The story is fascinating. A breakdown of why the world is inthe mess it is in told through the lives of a few people who foresaw the financial crisis. Sad that sooo many regular people lost money and are still losing money, while many who caused the mess at the investment banks profited while causing the mess, as did a few who were able to see the mess coming. Come on U.S. of A. get your act together. There is a place for regulation and conservatism in financial markets. Final thoughts: Many of these people should be in jail, and certainly they should not be helping to solve the crisis that they created but didn't understand.
