Historia
When a dispute among the fellows of St. Severin's College, Oxford University, reaches a stalemate, Lord Peter Wimsey discovers that as the Duke of Denver he is "the Visitor" - charged with the task of resolving the issue. It is time for Lord Peter and his detective novelist wife Harriet to revisit their beloved Oxford, where their long and literate courtship finally culminated in their engagement and marriage.

Admirable imitation, Peter lives on.
Revisado: 02-12-22
A few times the narrator misread a combination of words- not mispronounced, but misunderstood perhaps, at least in the moment. The errors are tiny, but distracting enough for my crazy mind to lose track of the story and write this review. Overall excellent.

Historia
Breakfast of Champions (1973) provides frantic, scattershot satire and a collage of Vonnegut's obsessions. His recurring cast of characters and American landscape was perhaps the most controversial of his canon; it was felt by many at the time to be a disappointing successor to Slaughterhouse-Five, which had made Vonnegut's literary reputation.

Magnificent
Revisado: 08-29-19
I don’t think that I had forgotten Vonnegut’s utter linguistic brilliance, but I had put it in a remote drawer in the mind.
Add Malkovich to the equation, and an audiobook becomes something profound. Do not miss this.

Historia
The narrator of Atwood's riveting novel calls himself Snowman. When the story opens, he is sleeping in a tree, wearing an old bedsheet, mourning the loss of his beloved Oryx and his best friend Crake, and slowly starving to death. He searches for supplies in a wasteland where insects proliferate and pigoons and wolvogs ravage the pleeblands, where ordinary people once lived, and the Compounds that sheltered the extraordinary. As he tries to piece together what has taken place, the narrative shifts to decades earlier. How did everything fall apart so quickly?

I had forgotten how much I love this book. Hadn’t read it in at least a decade.

Historia
A scathing, sardonic exploration of Silicon Valley tech culture, laying bare the greed, hubris, and retrograde politics of an industry that aspires to radically transform society for its own benefit. This enlightening audiobook is a must-listen for anyone interested or involved in the tech industry. At the height of the start-up boom, journalist Corey Pein set out for Silicon Valley with little more than a smartphone and his wits. His goal: to learn how such an overhyped industry could possibly sustain itself as long as it has.

Yikes!
Revisado: 10-24-18
Terrifying and terrifically timely.
I think that Corey and I would be pals IRL.
It is a tiny comfort to know that at least one other person has been gaping, comparably aghast, at the surreal travesty unfolding around us. Dystopia ho!
