Historia
Four years before Nina Totenberg was hired at NPR, where she cemented her legacy as a prizewinning reporter, and nearly twenty-two years before Ruth Bader Ginsburg was appointed to the Supreme Court, Nina called Ruth. A reporter for The National Observer, Nina was curious about Ruth’s legal brief, asking the Supreme Court to do something revolutionary: declare a law that discriminated “on the basis of sex” to be unconstitutional. That call launched a remarkable, nearly fifty-year friendship.

Dinners with Nina
Revisado: 07-01-23
Nina Totenberg wrote an interesting book about her life and used her “friend’s” name insure it sold. Very little of the book is about RBG.

Historia
"How did you get this number?" Those were the first words Jill Biden spoke to US senator Joe Biden when he called her out of the blue to ask her on a date. Growing up, Jill had wanted two things: a marriage like her parents' - strong, loving, and full of laughter - and a career. An early heartbreak had left her uncertain about love until she met Joe. But as they grew closer, Jill faced difficult questions: How would politics shape her family and professional life? And was she ready to become a mother to Joe's two young sons?

I admire Jill Biden. BUT

This book was sadly not good - basically as flat as her delivery. Disappointed...was expecting much more honesty and transparency

Not for me - loved her other books
Revisado: 05-28-18
Very disappointed in this book. Ali seemed to be reading very quickly to get done with it all -- perhaps that is why I just did not care for the book. She must have said "my husband and I" a hundred times when a simple "we" would have sufficed. I loved her previous books.

Historia
After the sudden death of her husband, Sheryl Sandberg felt certain that she and her children would never feel pure joy again. "I was in 'the void,'" she writes, "a vast emptiness that fills your heart and lungs and restricts your ability to think or even breathe." Her friend Adam Grant, a psychologist at Wharton, told her there are concrete steps people can take to recover and rebound from life-shattering experiences. We are not born with a fixed amount of resilience. It is a muscle that everyone can build.

Disappointing -- Not Close to Lean In
Revisado: 05-24-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Unless you have recently become a widow and are fairly well off -- this book is not worth your time. Sandberg is merely venting her grief and making more money on the coat tails of her really great book Lean In. Yes, Sandberg suffered a great loss -- and seems to be oblivous to the fact that ...people suffer great losses every minute of every day -- yet they are not multi-millionaires. But she goes on and on and on, continually talking about her grief, the grief of her children.......yada yada yada. There's no advice in this book. There is a great deal of background statistical information. I forced myself to listen to the whole book -- it was a waste of time.
Was Option B worth the listening time?

Awesome Information
Revisado: 11-08-16
Very interesting and useful information for anyone who has a relationship with someone from a different social class. It really had not occurred to me before reading this book - how differently each of us was raised and how ingrained our ideas are. Fascinating.
