Historia
The Last Kingdom is one of the most successful historical fiction series of our time. The novels tell the epic story of the birth of England and introduces one of the greatest ever fictional heroes: the iconic Uhtred of Bebbanburg, the Saxon-born, Norse-raised warrior and rebel. In this lively compendium, Bernard Cornwell revisits Uhtred’s realm, illuminating elements of the Anglo-Saxon world he couldn’t fully explore in his novels.

I never really thought about Agincourt, except in relation to Shakespeare’s Henry the Fifth. So I like that the perspective was told from common people caught up in the build up to the battle.

The characters were interesting to be with
Revisado: 06-05-24
The characters—what turn out to be the three main ones as the story progresses—are interesting and you get to caring about them, because they care about each other. So, King is able to present them and then make them real with feelings, desires, etc.

Historia
Bob Odenkirk’s career is inexplicable. And yet he will try like hell to explicate it for you. Charting a “Homeric” decades-long “odyssey” from his origins in the seedy comedy clubs of Chicago to a dramatic career full of award nominations - with a side trip into the action-man world that is baffling to all who know him - it’s almost like there are many Bob Odenkirks! But there is just one and one is plenty. Featuring humorous tangents, wild characters, and Bob’s trademark unflinching drive, Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama is a classic tale told by a determined idiot.

Liked hearing Mr. Odenkirk’s Story.
Revisado: 08-01-23
The author is very likable in telling his life story. If he is playing a part, it is that of a nice guy trying to be interesting because someone gave him money to write a book. But, that’s the point, it seems, of his career. He’s talented and funny, and if given a chance he’ll do his best to entertain. Which he does here. His learning to be a dramatic actor is especially interesting.

Wow-what a great woman-what a great book.
Revisado: 02-04-23
She was—is—an awe-inspiring person. The amount of skillful humanitarian work she did throughout her life is almost unbelievable. I don’t think I have ever read/listened to the biography of someone who possessed such tenacity—eventually thriving despite abuse, insult, disregard, cruelty, torture, setback, loss…and to be spat upon and scorned by husband, “doctors,” clergy, newspaper editors, neighbors, politicians, and strangers! She could be called a saint, a bodhisattva, or whatever term you could use to try to describe a person who strives every day for those who need help the most. I could go on. But just get the book, you’ll see.

I read the books so the magic continues, not ends.
Revisado: 12-17-21
At the end of the this book the author states (paraphrase) that the readers are going to laugh, cry, and not know who is going to die, by the end of the next book. It sounds like the goal is to tie up all the storylines once and for all, and in doing so, end the stories that have built up since the end of DS9. What’s the point of that? I’m glad the author describes the story arc. But I would not have even started the series knowing that it’s just to end it all. Whatever.

Wow. What a great book.
Revisado: 06-15-21
This is the kind of story that you do not want to end, that you want to listen to again as soon as you finish, where the characters inhabit a seemingly real place. Not many books do that. It is my favorite, along with books One and Two in the series, among all the Trek books I’ve read.

Interesting but the math is difficult...
Revisado: 10-03-20
I’m a very casual learner when it comes to science. I want to learn it but I do not want to have to do the math. So this listen was difficult at times. (Lots of equations.) But what I learned was great nonetheless.
