Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Should be required reading
Revisado: 08-27-24
One of my earliest memories is watching my mother cry as the POWs got off the planes in 1972-73. Her cousin, a medic, was KIA about a month before I was born. My grandfather, a career army man, left the army after Vietnam because it was no longer the army he knew. Soldiers had become expendable political pawns and he had seen too many young men die. I saw The Wall for the first time when. I was 18 and took rubbings of my cousin's name for my mother and his. This book masterfully brings the story of Vietnam to life and everyone should read it and understand why War is a LAST RESORT to protect our homeland, not a political strategy to make a few rich while so many are destroyed or permanently scarred. Thank you for this book and for remembering the women while also bringing the suffering of all involved to life.

Historia
Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

It was interesting for the hero to be a criminal.

I enjoyed the story. It's a bit different for John Grisham, but a very good tale.

A powerful story
Revisado: 07-03-24
This novel reflects my experiences in the South and the stories told by my elders. Like today, there are good, kind humans as well as evil and ignorant humans that come in every shade of melanin, every economic status, and everywhere across the globe. Love and hate exist everywhere and it's up to us to ensure that, ultimately, love wins. That battle occurs within each of us. We must choose our path each day, and, sometimes each of us fails. It's having the courage to face the consequences of our failures and choose to do better that gives us hope.

Historia
Jane Yellowrock is the queen of the vampires, and that makes her a target as she fights to maintain control and keep peace in the city of New Orleans. She has enemies at every turn, because vampires live forever, and they keep their grudges alive with them. That includes the Heir, the vampire sire of the Pellissier bloodline, which gave rise to Leo Pellissier himself—Jane’s old boss and the former master of the city.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and narration as well as the interviews. I haven't had time to get into the show but now I think I'll read more books first and then check it out. The show sounds great but I always prefer reading the book version first.

This story made me ponder how the average non-Jewish person might have reacted to Jesus. Although the concept of a Messiah would be unfamiliar, perhaps they would be more willing to accept His teachings without trying to fit them into a preconceived notion.

It's a great story line. I could do with less time talking about sexual desires and more time on the actual story. I would not consider this acceptable for under 18
