Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Finally a book about the forgotten women of the Vietnam War!
Revisado: 03-25-24
Kristen Hannah researched and told the truth in her book! Not only was the war an atrocity, but the way people treated the returning soldiers like criminals was an atrocity. The government started the war- not the soldiers! And instead of recognizing the women who served there in that horror like the brave heroes they were, the military denied their existence! Thank you Kristen Hannah!

It was a fun ride!
Revisado: 02-21-24
A different kind of Dean Koontz. In the line of Odd Thomas but more lighthearted.

Great main character!
Revisado: 12-29-23
Enjoyed having a senior citizen as the main character, sometimes confused, but strong, talented, smart and fearless! Looking forward to a whole series starring Mrs. Plansky!

Historia
Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination. Rose Mary painted and wrote and couldn't stand the responsibility of providing for her family; she called herself an "excitement addict."

Could not stand the new narrators!
Revisado: 02-09-22
Even though I enjoy the author’s work, the narration was so poor I could barely make it to the end of the book. I will not listen to the next one. Bring back the old narrator. The new ones will kill this author’s books.
