In Quit, Duke teaches you how to get good at quitting. Drawing on stories from elite athletes like Mount Everest climbers, founders of leading companies like Stewart Butterfield, the CEO of Slack, and top entertainers like Dave Chappelle, Duke explains why quitting is integral to success, as well as strategies for determining when to hold 'em, and when to fold 'em, that will save you time, energy, and money.

get to good decisions faster and with less stigma
Revisado: 06-09-23
As a career coach this book is a must-read for myself and to assist others, and will be a valuable read for anyone who values making good decisions in life at all.
Narrator's voice is pleasant and the book isn't too long (little unnecessary dwindling). Highly recommended.

Historia
For Blood and Money tells the little-known story of how an upstart biotechnology company created a one-in-a-million cancer drug and how the core team—denied their share of the profits—went and did it again. In this epic saga of money and science, veteran financial journalist Nathan Vardi explains how the invention of two of the biggest cancer drugs in history became (for their backers) two of the greatest Wall Street bets of all time.

Must-read for biotech enthusiasts and scientists
Revisado: 03-16-23
"Industry" curious grad students, frustrated post-docs, and/or biotech curious? This is a must-read for you! It is an entertaining (and disturbing at times) account of what science is like out of academia where it is used to get drugs to patients. Nature (the journal) was right to publish a book review on it! I have recommended this page-turner (audio equivalent?) to many!

Historia
Ali Tamaseb has spent thousands of hours manually amassing what may be the largest dataset ever collected on start-ups, comparing billion-dollar start-ups with those that failed to become one - 30,000 data points on nearly every factor: number of competitors, market size, the founder’s age, his or her university’s ranking, quality of investors, fundraising time, and many, many more. And what he found looked far different than expected.

Most of what we know about how ideas spread comes from best-selling authors who give us a compelling picture of a world, in which "influencers" are king, "sticky" ideas "go viral", and good behavior is "nudged" forward. The problem is that the world they describe is a world where information spreads, but beliefs and behaviors stay the same. When it comes to lasting change in what we think or the way we live, the dynamics are different: beliefs and behaviors are not transmitted from person to person in the simple way that a virus is.

Did you love Malcolm Gladwell's Tipping Point? Then you'll like this one a lot too! It's non-overlapping, timely, and includes a fair amount of examples from the Life Sciences. An excellent, enjoyable, and educational read!
