Historia
As the ash and chaos from Mount Rainier’s eruption swirled and finally settled, the story of the Greenloop massacre has passed unnoticed, unexamined...until now. The journals of resident Kate Holland, recovered from the town’s bloody wreckage, capture a tale too harrowing - and too earth-shattering in its implications - to be forgotten. In this audiobook, Max Brooks brings Kate’s extraordinary account to light for the first time, faithfully reproducing her words alongside his own extensive investigations into the massacre and the legendary beasts behind it.

Fascinating and Enthralling
Revisado: 04-03-25
Loved every moment. Max Brooks is brilliant, the details he includes, the way he crafts the action sequences; it’s all brilliant. Judy Greer’s transformation through the narrative is equally strong. This is all around one of my favorite books I’ve listened to in a long, long, time.

A Nice Bridge Narrative
Revisado: 03-20-23
I actually really liked this one! It’s not my favorite by far, but it’s gentle bridge novella that gives us insight into the group dynamics and character development. It sets the scene for the next book nicely.

Fascinating
Revisado: 01-04-23
I’m an American who has always been captivated by English history, but was never much interested in the Windsors until recently. This seems a very fair and honest telling of the events of the late-twentieth century to present. I enjoyed the opportunity to better understand these people and the dynamics behind the scenes.

A great listen - the story is excellent and well read. However, 4 stars for performance after one reader mispronounced ‘chutzpah’ in an early chapter.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Historia
For 150 years, high above rocky Scottish cliffs, Caldonbrae Hall has sat untouched, a beacon of excellence in an old ancestral castle. A boarding school for girls, it promises that the young women lucky enough to be admitted will emerge “resilient and ready to serve society.” Into its illustrious midst steps Rose Christie: a 26-year-old Classics teacher, Caldonbrae’s new head of the department, and the first hire for the school in over a decade.

Oh Madam.
Revisado: 07-26-21
I was so excited about this book. The premise was really interesting - having visited Dunnottar Castle, the place that inspired the setting for the story, I was drawn into the connection with that isolated, mysteriously beautiful place, I would agree with other reviewers that the 'secret' is quite easy to guess, so while the author does add further elements to the story throughout later chapters, the initial build-up to the first reveal is.. frustrating. I was frustrated with Rose, the central character, that she didn't see what was going on sooner. Overall, I enjoyed the story but found that frustration throughout. Rose's character, in the end, doesn't see much development. She remains cowardly throughout, not creating any type of strategy to overcome the system she is bound by. The ending teases an obvious sequel, although I don't think one is necessary. Hard to keep fighting when not much fighting happened in the first place. Consequences through happenstance don't constitute a victory in my mind. Given the premise and setting were so enthralling, I will be interested to see if this author improves in story development as she continues,

Really interesting discussion on the science behind the modern obesity crisis and full evaluation of scientific cause. Scientific background is written digestible for non-MDs (thank you, lol), easy to understand and connect. If you’re interested in obesity for whatever reason, this book offers a holistic perspective of what causes obesity and a history of modern diet trends.

Interesting, Not Great
Revisado: 12-18-20
She’s Come Undone was easy to get in to and and interesting story to follow. Central to the story is the female experience and female relationships, which seemed to me at first overdone. As the story continued, I perceived those relationships to be unrealistically competitive. Researching the author and finding out he is male helped me understand the root of the overdramatization.

A Good Follow-Up
Revisado: 12-13-20
For anyone who loved Ready Player One, Ready Player Two offers an exciting new adventure into the Oasis with Wade and the High 5. While the set up in this sequel initially seems a little predictable, as the core mission is revealed the reader quickly escapes back into the intricate and nostalgic details beloved in the first book. The ending fell slightly short for this reader, but the story ultimately wrapped nicely and characters displayed genuine growth.

Mostly Good
Revisado: 09-03-19
I really enjoyed the adventure aspects of this book. Unique storyline and much of the story is really fun! I could have done without the romantic interest, those areas of the book were a bit of a struggle. And for being as recent as 2011, some of the language hasn’t aged well. Overall super cool concept, it was interesting visualizing this world and these characters
