Historia
In the near future, humankind has founded colonies on Mars and the inner planets as well as under the oceans, populating them via by direct genetic manipulation, changing us to suit the environment. The haves are those who are "ecomods" (genetically modified) or "surgenmods" (surgically modified); the have-nots are the "typics"—those who haven't undergone modification.

Great if you are a gender bender
Revisado: 01-19-23
If you love proper pronoun usage and rules, you will probably like this book. Contains long passages from a main character about his/her ability to change genders and what it's like to be one or the other.

Historia
An electromagnetic pulse blinds the U.S. Cars crash. Planes fall. Chaos reigns. Power is restored within minutes, but it’s already too late. Russian nukes are falling. U.S. allies around the world are already wiped out. The United States will cease to exist inside of five minutes. After giving the order to launch a full-scale retaliation–dooming the planet–the president, his staff, Secret Service and those lucky enough to be visiting the White House, are whisked below ground, where they board several Earth Escape Pods. As the EEPs launch into Earth orbit, missiles descend.

Started well then dragged on and just stopped.
Revisado: 08-13-22
Started out with an interesting concept with great possibilities but settled into a long dragged out repetitious series of gory hellish scenes and then JUST ENDED. i didn't get it. R C Bray was outstanding as usual and the reason I bought the book but even he couldn't save it.

Historia
Miah Gray is a 27-year-old former army soldier living in rural New Hampshire with his sister, mother, and her boyfriend. He is plagued by PTSD, finding solace, but not redemption, with the aid of prescribed cannabis. All he wants to do is get high, relax with a good sandwich, and watch a meteor shower with his neighborhood crush, Jen. When the sun's light is blotted out the following morning and the world is plunged into darkness, Miah finds himself locked down with his family, covering windows with trash bags, lighting candles, and following the arcane rules of an ancient prophecy.

Started out great then kinda fizzled.
Revisado: 11-23-21
I'm not saying it's not worth the read but be prepared for the story turning rather infantile about half way through. Its more a horror story than scifi,
R.C.Bray is great as usual though.

Somewhat infantile dialogue.
Revisado: 10-18-21
Story had great potential but the infantile dialogue and long boring character building where I had to FF over much ruined it for me. The ending was just too unbelievable as well. Should be a YA book category.

Historia
Max Edwards has always felt like something was wrong with the world. Like something was...off. Like his entire life was a lie being told by the people around him. Then, it begins. From his friend’s acreage outside Oklahoma City, he witnesses a giant saucer descend from the sky to hover over the city. Countries all around the world report the same thing - mysterious vessels that refuse all attempts to communicate. As the world comes apart at the seams, Max realizes everything that’s ever happened to him was leading up to this.

Global Warming, Planet good-Human bad blah blah
Revisado: 03-01-20
If you want to spend 11 hours and your expensive credit on a story about how humans are destroying the planet and need to be eradicated by reintroducing smallpox then this book is for you. Be prepared to be literally preached to about how bad we humans are as well. Spend your money elsewhere.

Ridiculous ending! Don't waste the credit.
Revisado: 01-29-20
The story was interesting enough to get me to buy book 3 to see how it ends but about half way thru it the events became utterly and absurdly surreal and ridiculous. Don't waste the credit on this one. Regarding the narrator, he attempted to portray characters from at least five different countries but except for the Americans, they all had an Indian accent.

Historia
Bill Steele is in the trenches, trying to survive in the competitive world of luxury vacation resorts on the island of Kauai. Then a dark shadow falls over the island. It’s not a lunar eclipse, because Bill can clearly see the crescent moon shimmering on the water. This is something else. Moments later, the meteors begin to fall. One of them lands in the water just beyond the resort. On the news, the anchorman is fleeing from his hillside vantage point with his cameraman in hot pursuit. Their muffled screams are the last thing anyone hears before the signal is lost....

Really disappointing fantacy ending!
Revisado: 12-31-19
This is the second Jasper T. Scott book I've read and both have the same problem. Its definitely NOT hard science fiction. That said the characters and story were interesting but the last 1-2 hours really bit the big one. The author goes way off the rails with fantasy science that ruins the book for me. It's like a somewhat realistic adventure on a train until you get to the end and magic you find that a character has a magic teleporter in his luggage and teleports you away to a happy ending.
