Beautiful, heart-wrenching, candid, true. So glad Tim was able to finish this before he passed. The movie was wonderful, one of my lifetime favourites now, but it's better to read/hear the details of what was going on in Tim's mind. This story will linger in your mind.

A pleasing story

At first I was puzzled by the singing between chapters and I was skeptical about whether I would enjoy the story. I was pleasantly surprised. The singing woks well. The story is well-woven and flows nicely. There are unique enough characteristics that readers who enjoy the colourful story-telling of Harry Potter may enjoy this book. Well narrated by the cast.

Intelligent. Creates thought for pondering.

Interesting stories throughout that, together, flavour the book. The last chapter was a good finish to the overall. I'm left with my own imaginings of what happens next.
The cover chosen sells the book to those unaware that the movie is inspired by but very unlike the novel, however, still well worth the listen.

What I needed to hear

I listened to this book during a critical transition phase in my life learning to deal with a loss. The story was soothing and I was comfortably reflective listening to it. A good book with realistic characters that a listener will feel connected to. I also felt a deep connection to China and its history listening to the descriptions of values and cultures.

A happy listen

Listening to this brought back memories. It is well written and well read by Cary Elwes and others. Very enjoyable . I can't wait to find my copy of the movie to watch again. Without being scientific in my description and review, if you simply want to smile, chuckle and laugh a few times and stay in a good mood listen to this book.
