Historia
Most of us are quite relaxed and confident when we're with our friends and family. We can tell a story or even tell a joke. But put us on a platform and we can feel very different. When we speak to an audience, we often put on a public mask; and use a different voice. Why can't we seem to be ourselves when we give a talk? In this audiobook, we will look at all aspects of spoken communication, from structure right through to delivery. We will learn how to have a conversation with our audience - to be ourselves - so that we connect with them every time we speak.

Historia
Too many people believe that if they keep their heads down and work hard, they will be lauded as experts on the merits of their work. But that's simply not true anymore. To make a name for yourself, you have to capitalize on your unique perspective and knowledge and inspire others to listen and take action. But becoming a "thought leader" is a mysterious and opaque process. Where do the ideas come from, and how do they get noticed?

Not the typical self help book. Loved it
Revisado: 05-14-21
I enjoyed the book. When I read it, I was in a time when I was trying to exit the rabbit hole of doing more to have more.
This book will not necessarily find the purpose for you, but it will help you think about all these things that are important in your life.
The main takeaway I take from this book is the words gratitude and sufficiency. The current society is built to make you think that you are not good enough, that you don't love enough, that you are not a good enough parent. Thanks to this book, I am now on the way to finding my life purpose and, more than anything, ignore all the marketing and social media cues trying to make me think that I am not good enough. Just because I am not travelling worldwide, having a perfect body, driving a fancy car or giving keynotes to thousands of people.
I recommend this book to everyone, but particularly those that think they might be somehow running the rat race and want to get out and live a simple but complete life.

Historia
There is nothing more essential to our health and well-being than breathing. Yet, as a species, humans have lost the ability to breathe correctly, with grave consequences. Journalist James Nestor travels the world to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. The answers aren’t found in pulmonology labs, as we might expect, but in the muddy digs of ancient burial sites, secret Soviet facilities, New Jersey choir schools, and the smoggy streets of São Paulo. Nestor tracks down men and women exploring the hidden science behind ancient breathing practices.

Informative and entertaining. Really liked it
Revisado: 02-01-21
There are plenty of studies around the human body, but one part that is strangely not explored is the distinct feature all we animals have, Breathing.
In this book, the author provides a timeline of what he considers dysevolution of the human body's respiratory function. This is causing us to breath too much, which may have negative consequences.
Later he offers well-documented experiment data and finally advises on how to breathe better.
Read it if you or anyone you cares about snores have a respiratory disease breath too fast too noisy, (struggling to climb upstairs or tie his/her laces)

Historia
Over the past three decades, professor Larry Smith has become something of a "career whisperer" for his students at the University of Waterloo. Each year, millions of talented college students graduate with little or no real sense of what their next steps will be, yet they are determined not to settle for so-so careers; they are looking for great careers. Smith points out that only a few fortunate souls are born knowing exactly what they want to pursue in life. The rest of us have to stop making excuses and start asking ourselves tough questions about achieving our goals.
