Historia
In this extraordinary work, Beth Macy takes us into the epicenter of a national drama that has unfolded over two decades. From the labs and marketing departments of big pharma to local doctor's offices; wealthy suburbs to distressed small communities in Central Appalachia; from distant cities to once-idyllic farm towns; the spread of opioid addiction follows a tortuous trajectory that illustrates how this crisis has persisted for so long and become so firmly entrenched.

This is a great piece of work every concerned American should read. Totally changed my view of the opioid epidemic. Thank you, Beth Macy, for working so tirelessly to tell this important story.

Historia
Howard Phillips Lovecraft, better known as H.P. Lovecraft, was an American author of horror, fantasy, poetry and science fiction, especially the sub-genre known as weird fiction and many feel he is the acknowledged master of creepy, weird and unsettling stories. These are six stories by Lovecraft that literally span his career; some being written when he was barely a teenager and one ("The Shunned House") only published after he had died.

A decent introduction
Revisado: 08-06-18
I've been hearing about the genius of HP Lovecraft for so long, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. This book is good not excellent, but gave me a decent introduction to the incredible imagination of HP Lovecraft. I'm now more curious to read some of his longer works.

Historia
Originally meant to be brief and exceptional, solitary confinement in US prisons has become long-term and common. Prisoners spend 23 hours a day in featureless cells, with no visitors or human contact for years on end, and they are held entirely at administrators' discretion. Keramet Reiter tells the history of one "supermax", California's Pelican Bay State Prison, whose extreme conditions recently sparked a statewide hunger strike by 30,000 prisoners.

Great book, meticulously researched and remarkably humane. An enlightening (and disturbing) view into how prison policy is developed in California.
