why why why! Tiny spoilers...
Revisado: 11-06-24
I love this series! Until today! The ending. Gah why why why leave it open with so many possibilities??? All I can say is there better be another one! Please let there be another one lol. And let poor Mike not get pulverized so much in the next go round. And lots more Gus vs the Yetis! Ok that's my wish list for the moment.

Historia
A series of violent shark attacks off the shores of northern California draw the attention of pessimistic Detective Luke Jansen. Despite reports of shark sightings, the injuries are more reminiscent of a chainsaw-wielding maniac. Things get stranger when marine biologist Elise Sheldon encounters the creature. Exhausted and traumatized, her claims that the beast is a Helicoprion are dismissed. With little help from the police department, Luke and Elise form an unlikely alliance that puts them face-to-face with a violent man-eating shark, and its terrifying reason for existing.

Pleasantly disappointed!!!
Revisado: 04-27-23
What I expected: Kinda cheesy sci-fi horror gratuitous bloody maiming and killing.
What I got: Some of that, but an actual plausible story too!!
I was kinda sad there wasn't a tad more shark action, but it was actually a good balance that honestly added to the storyline.
I really enjoyed this book!

Historia
Iris Cooper has been singing ever since she can remember, hitting the high notes like no one else. At twelve, her father convinces the owner of a bar in Lake City, Texas, to let her perform, and she stuns the audience. In the ensuing years, never staying anywhere for long, they move from one dusty town to the next, her passion for music growing every time she takes the mike in another roadhouse. But it is not an easy life with her father in charge and using her income to pay for gambling, women, and booze.

I can't believe I finished it!
Revisado: 04-14-23
First off... I rarely write reviews because I love everything. Even when most don't. you could say I'm easily amused or entertained. with that said. ..
The author being who it is and the vast career she has had, I really am shocked this was as bad as it was. It easily could have been a much shorter story if you took out all the repetition of simple statements. Was she afraid we would forget she can hit the high notes? I swear I never want to hear that stated again. I just kept hoping it would get better. It did not. There were many things I did not like and wish I had stopped listening. The premise of the story was good. The presentation was not. It was like a train wreck that you just couldn't stop looking at. You wanted to see where the pieces landed.
Listen at your own risk!!

David Federman has never felt appreciated. An academically gifted yet painfully forgettable member of his New Jersey high school class, the withdrawn, mild-mannered freshman arrives at Harvard fully expecting to be embraced by a new tribe of high-achieving peers. But, initially, his social prospects seem unlikely to change, sentencing him to a lifetime of anonymity. Then he meets Veronica Morgan Wells. Struck by her beauty, wit, and sophisticated Manhattan upbringing, David falls feverishly in love.

I'm torn on this one. Contains mild spoilers!!!
Revisado: 03-13-19
It's rare I take the time to do more than just give the stars as a review. This book has me torn on how to process it. It was kinda like a car accident you can't take your eyes off of as you drive by. I seriously did not like the main character. He was a creepy guy right off the bat. This was like a peep into a stalkers mind, or worse a future criminal. Because before he knew he was being manipulated, he had these tendencies. The writing itself was intriguing and the narrative was amazing. The topic was disturbing. It was a dark world inside David's mind. But it definitely showed the lengths someone can go to insinuating themselves in your world when they are disillusioned about the importance of another that's in their sights. It could have gone so much further and thankfully it didn't. But that harmless bump into someone may not be so harmless. I must give this author huge props tho because it held my attention and drove me to listen even tho I was skeeved out by this guy. That is the reason I rated so high. I went into this book thinking it was going to be like a young adult coming of age and realizing the shallowness of the pretty people and what he had in front of him was where he truly belong... oh boy was I wrong. Now to clarify, this is not a negative review by any stretch. The author made me THINK, FEEL and mostly REACT. That is talent. My hats off to you as I bow to your talent. I will seek more books from Mr. Wayne. Bravo!!!

Oh what a twisty ride!!
Revisado: 10-13-17
I first saw this book in a book store a few years back and put it on my very long wish list. Oh how I wish I had read it sooner. I know a book is good by how fast I listen to it. If it has me wanting to do chores just to have an excuse to listen, then its a darn good book!
This was a very intricate web. Of all the directions I thought it was going, it ended up no where near. I highly recommend this listen. The narrator did a great job conveying the different characters as well as aging them. I always want to say so much but it would so spoil it for future listeners if even a tiny bit is given away. I'm off to find my next read by Mr. O'Brein!!
GET THIS BOOK... You'll thank me later ;-)

Who let the dogs out?!
Revisado: 07-17-17
In the end it doesn't matter who let them out because Ledger once again took them to the pound and Saved the Day! I will never get tired of the series so I hope Mr. Maberry does not ever get tired of writing them because unfortunately there is a lot of writing fodder in this world. This series is absolutely amazing I strongly encourage reading every single one of them, sometimes repeatedly, for it's high entertainment value.

Historia
When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills - and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

Absolutely Fantastic!! My Favorite Series!
Revisado: 06-22-17
This book has it all! Tons of military/cop type action, technology (Church knows someone in the industry!), smart-assery/humor, and just a tinge of romance. Maberry takes a topic and makes it PLAUSIBLE in the real world. The science behind it is explained perfectly. You come to love to hate Gault. This series is a definite must! No question about being worth credits, I have the WHOLE series. AND Ray Porter, he IS Joe Ledger. Fantastic Narration! His voice brought this book and this series to life like no one else could. Fantastic pairing! (If you can't tell, I really really liked it! LOL) Stop reading this review and purchase it already! You WON'T be sorry!

Lady Justice personified!
Revisado: 06-05-17
Chief said it best when he said that if Justice could be served like this crime rates would be non-existent. an eye for an eye maybe needs to be brought back to the modern world. this was a very good book and I highly recommend the read. I think I got it when it was the daily deal but I would have gladly spent a credit on it. for anyone that has ever seen Justice fail someone I think you will enjoy this immensely.

Historia
A group of close friends gathers at a secluded cabin in the wintry mountains of Colorado for a final holiday hurrah. Instead, it may be their last stand. First a massive blizzard leaves them marooned. Then the more chilling realization: Something is lurking in the woods, watching them, waiting.... Now a weekend of family, friends, and fun has turned into a test of love and loyalty in the face of inhuman horrors. The only hope for those huddled inside is to fight - tooth and nail, bullet and blade - for their lives. Otherwise, they’ll end up like the monsters’ other victims: bright pools of blood on glittering snow, screams lost in the vast mountains.

Things that go bump in the cold night!
Revisado: 05-26-17
The story overall was pretty good. I wasn't drawn in by the characters as much as I was the monsters. Less relationship drama would have made it a better book because a lot of it was superficial. I loved a couple of scenes, but that was due to the monsters cunning. I do recommend the book as a lighter read. Another reviewer described it well by saying it's very much like a summer teen slasher movie. If you like those movies (Friday the 13th especially) you will enjoy this book more than most!

Historia
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn't think it's love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

I ugly cried... such ugly love
Revisado: 05-11-17
This man's broken soul, so completely shattered. Her patience and chances she gives. I don't want to give anything away, but when he breaks, it's heart wrenching. The impact of such profound damage at such a young age is so well written and thought out. As frustrating as this book was in parts, it all became so clear as to why, and necessary. Ugly cry! They do!
