Historia
A decade ago, kidnappers grabbed two boys from wealthy families and demanded ransom, then went silent. No trace of the boys ever surfaced. For 10 years their families have been left with nothing but painful memories and a quiet desperation for the day that has finally, miraculously arrived: Myron Bolitar and his friend Win believe they have located one of the boys, now a teenager. Where has he been for 10 years, and what does he know about the day, more than half a life ago, when he was taken?

Harlan must have read his reviewers...

Any additional comments?
I was about over the Harlan formula of story telling, but when I saw this was a Myron story I figured I'd give it one more try. I'm happy to say that many of the things I was tired of it seems Harlan has worked around and at one point direct talks to the reader about. I like the story and am refreshed with the authors re-boot of his style. Very good work.

Very well done, Gotta love Harry

Harry is getting a little older and a little more mellow, but he is still a great detective and I love the new direction he is taking. Good story, left me wanting more.

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. Historia
Elvis Cole is hired to find a woman who’s disappeared, a seemingly ordinary case, until he learns the missing woman is an explosives expert and worked for a Defense Department contractor. Meanwhile, LAPD K-9 Officer Scott James and his patrol dog, Maggie, track a fugitive to a house filled with explosives - and a dead body. As the two cases intertwine, they all find themselves up against shadowy arms dealers and corrupt officials, and the very woman they promised to save may be the cause of their own deaths.

A great Follow up to Suspect
Revisado: 07-26-16
Any additional comments?
I like the way Crais mixed the different story lines of "Pike and Cole" and "Scott and Maggie" Like most of Crais books it is an easy story, not too long, not too short. I think the Maggie treatment still works. You do not have to read them in order, but if you can do Suspect first, You get all the Scott and Maggie background. But otherwise this story holds its own. I highly recommend.

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

Ove, the man you love to hate
Revisado: 07-26-16
Any additional comments?
OK, Hate is too strong a word, but he is hard to like for sure. I've recommended this story to several people and I tell them that you have to stick with it past chapter 10. Till then the author is setting up the characters, getting you to have and emotional reaction for how they all interact, then the story unfolds and gets good. There is no mystery or action, it is just a good story about people. I believe that most people will have an emotional response to this book by the end. I believe this author is very good at his craft, I'm eagerly awaiting his next release.

Loved the movie, not so sure about the book
Revisado: 07-26-16
Any additional comments?
I'm not sure where the folks that put the movie got their story from, but it was not from this book. I got the book to maybe help clarify some of the mysteries left after watching the movie. The book was fine, but did nothing to help understand the movie...

Sticking with tradition, twists characters
Revisado: 07-26-16
Any additional comments?
I've listened to all of Coben's books, I grew up a few houses from him, so much of his background about places and names I'm familiar with, it adds top the story! He has a pattern to his writing and he seems to have kept to that once again. Its a good story overall. It grabs you right away and keeps you interested. Although this is not Myron story, it is not too dissimilar overall.

Elsa is seven years old and different. Her grandmother is 77 years old and crazy, standing-on-the-balcony-firing-paintball-guns-at-men-who-want-to-talk-about-Jesus crazy. She is also Elsa's best and only friend. At night Elsa takes refuge in her grandmother's stories, in the Land of Almost-Awake and the Kingdom of Miamas, where everybody is different and nobody needs to be normal.

A kids story written for adults?
Revisado: 07-26-16
Any additional comments?
If I had not listened to A man called Ova, I probably would not have done this one. I think the author is very talented in how he gets you to emotionally commit to characters and then he lets the story unwind. Its a good story with a nice ending. A little simple and confusing with the interlacing of fantasy and reality throughout, but if you just go with it, its not bad overall.

I'm not sure why I finished this book. I spent half the story yelling at the player in my car to just get on with the story! Im not going to complain point by point, its just WAY too long!
