Gave it a goo, loved it. Thanks Mike! Hope there are more like this in the future, what a great change of pace from current horrible people.

This was an excellent book though I may never have listened to it because the cover art is SO BAD. I didn't realize how much that mattered until this was recommended to me. I waited months to buy it, scoffing at the unappealing cover. It's so bad. Relaunch them, all of them written by this author are heinous. Please, do your books a favor. Otherwise this was a great listen.
Spoiler.... I don't like when a heroine in a book has been ra***. It ruins the sexiness imo but here they handled it pretty well.

The first in this series was good. This one was painful. The English narrator apparently thinks Americans sound like Velma from Scooby-Doo and unfortunately the main character was American raised so... it was impossible to take seriously. The story wasn't compelling at all but I could have gotten past it if the narration wasn't so ridiculous. The fact it was free doesn't diminish my annoyance with the producers of this audiobook. HOW was this approved?

These books are terrible. I've tried repeatedly to finish this and I just can't. I hate him but more importantly I hate HER. I like a forceful man, I like rough sex, I even enjoy fantasy and possessiveness to a degree. This is something different. Jesse isn't possessive, he's a little jerk. He tries to sabotage her job and even her career. Keeps her from friends and family. All Ava is to him is a sex doll. He doesn't have the smallest amount of appreciation for her as a human. He emotionally blackmails her by threatening self harm, he lies and hides things. If a man behaves even a little like Jesse in real life, run. Ava is a simp ... period. There is zero plot. Halfway into the second book... NO PLOT. Kate is the literal worst friend. I hate these people. Also, I've started fast forwarding the sex scenes! They are boring, repetitive and there's no investment on my part. I'm done.

Is it just me?

I haven't finished the book yet but I have to say something. I don't know if it's just me but that first scene in the hotel where he set her up and everyone in the building seemed to know it was a trap complete with waiting jealous "girlfriend" just pulled me out of it. I don't know a single woman who would go along with that, except this girl. Even if Jason Mamoa was in that hotel room, I'd still be furious and humiliated. Maybe that's it, humiliation? I don't know. If I can get past it, I'll update my review.

Liked the narrator

The narrator wasn't the same but she was very bland and pleasant. A good substitute. I'm really sensitive to replacement narrators but this one, I could accept. That says a lot about her talent.

Would you try another book from Laura Moisin and/or Arielle DeLisle?

No

Has Kid Rex turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I have read many books relating to eating disorders. This was just a bad one.

How could the performance have been better?

Maybe the book would have been better if read. The narrator had a young whiny voice that made the litany of complaints the author was spewing all the more irritating.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Kid Rex?

Oh god, she MUST have known someone to have gotten this pushed through.

Any additional comments?

I am angry with this "author". Not for being anorexic, but for her attitude toward every single person that has tried to help her. She is very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend a wonderful college and have her own apartment. To see doctor after doctor (though she lied to them all and then got mad at them for their incompetence). She had her choice between Renfrew and Remuda Ranch but had nothing but petty, childish complaints to report. If you want to listen to a privilaged whiny girl complain about just about everything, this is the book for you. I also have a feeling that she grossly exagerated her condition. Ex. She stated that for years, she had nothing but one glass of water per day. This is not possible. She would have collapsed from dehydration at the very least. She desperately tries to show how smart she is by using unnecessarily large words and pretentious phrases. I know authors have the right to embelish but it has to be believeable. Don't waste your time.

What did you love best about An Apple a Day?

How honest the author is. I enjoyed her voice as well, though it does have a "sticky" quality that grates after a while.

What other book might you compare An Apple a Day to and why?

Biting Anorexia - they are both candid diary type stories about the struggle back to health.

Which scene was your favorite?

When she was describing her own fascination with Posh spice. Who wouldn't identify with her thoughts on the glamorous supermom persona Posh has adopted. Also, how she describes her and Tom's trip across the western states of the US. To see America from the point of view of an an eating disordered English woman was interesting.

Any additional comments?

It is obvious from the author's point of view that she was still firmly in the grips of anorexia while writing this. Some of her interpretations of situations or other people's advise show a deep need to hang on to her disease. I came to really root for her though, and will surely listen to it again.

What did you like best about Insatiable? What did you like least?

Entertaining, but that's just because I will read anything pertaining to ana. It was childish, but I believe meant to be so, good for Jr. High students.

Would you ever listen to anything by Eve Eliot again?

No, I don't believe so. Just not for me.

What didn’t you like about Eliza Foss’s performance?

It was ok. Not annoying or anything, but her voice sounded like a middle aged woman rather than the pre-teens the book was actually about.

Do you think Insatiable needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

There is a follow-up book. Since it apparently doesn't deal w/ eating disorders I will not be listning to it.

Any additional comments?

This was an entertaining listen. Not compelling or even theraputic but I enjoyed it. It is however, TRIGGERING. I think it's meant to do the opposite, deter kids from all types of eating disorders but frequently these things go the other way. I am 36 yrs old, but would not allow my teen to listen to this. Would just give her ideas. It was rather funny (in the way of "The Best Little Girl In the World") how ingenious the therapist was. She managed to instantly cure all who came to see her. Wouldn't be surprised if the author works in that field.
