Historia
Children from the town of Patterson, Oregon are disappearing. And it does not appear to be ending anytime soon. Until two sisters rise to the challenge of the bizarre mystery. A friendless science geek and a feisty sci-fi fanatic, Rowan and Nova are cut from a different bit of cloth. They don't always get along, but they may be the only ones with enough guts and smarts to save their missing classmates from something straight out of Nova's imagination. All they need is the right motivation. And to not disappear themselves.

This was read far too slowly
Revisado: 08-08-17
I normally wouldn't leave a review for a book that I haven't finished, and one that don't intend to come back to, but I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review, so here goes.
This book had caught my eye because I thought it would be a good one to listen with my 13 year old daughter on our 20 minute drive her to school every morning. The story is definitely targeted towards teenage girls. I can't really say much about the story beyond that, since I did not finish it. I will say that it wasn't the story that caused me to stop listening.
What stopped me was the fact that the narrator read the book very, very S L O W L Y. I found myself nodding off when listening to it, which is a very dangerous thing when you're driving. My daughter got impatient with the narrator and purchased the book and read it on her kindle. I just stopped listening.
For what its worth, my daughter says the book was pretty good.

Historia
Henry and Jason led normal lives in Seattle before they were abducted to another world. Their kidnapper, the vain, self-styled god Dolos, refuses to send them back unless they can accomplish an impossible task. Oddly, Dolos doesn't seem to care if they succeed or not. Luckily, Henry and Jason studied Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) on Earth. Unfortunately, a Japanese American EMT and a geeky IT programmer don't have many other useful skills on a sword-and-sorcery world like Ludus.

Revisado: 01-25-17
I received the audiobook for free from Audio Book Blast in return for an honest review, and I can say that I very much enjoyed Delvers LLC. I found the book to be engaging and fun to listen to. Jeff Hays gave an excellent performance, even differentiating the sound between internal thoughts and external dialog. The plot flowed well and there was no aspect that threw me out of the story. My biggest criticism of the book is that there is graphic sexual content that doesn't add anything to the plot or character development.
Delvers is about two friends that are kidnapped by a self-stylized god to an alien planet to take part in an 'experiment' that looks suspiciously like an RPG sword and sorcery game. The story revolved around how the two friends are able to get established in the world. Although the story ends are a good place, there are several threads left open, and it is obvious that a sequel or series is planned.
I look forward to purchasing future books in this series, and I recommend this book to fantasy fans.

This was a fun light story to listen to!
Revisado: 08-16-16
I will start out by stating that this audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom. With that out of the way, I can happily say that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book, and I have since moved on to going through the rest of Ms. Oxford's books.
I was looking for something light and fun when I start this book, and that is exactly what I got. There isn't a huge amount of dramatic angst in this story, just a fun yarn about a boy becoming a wizard. J. Scott Bennett did an good job of acting out the different voices of the characters, and his portrayal of the main character's voice did an excellent job of getting my attention and keeping me interested.

Historia
Clean freak college student Dani Hashelheim never imagined she'd discover her latent magical ability in, of all places, a bathroom. But when she ducks into the ladies' room at the library, she's put in the crossfire between an elderly janitor and a ravenous muck-monster that emerges from the sink. Dani's previously unknown power manifests in self-defense, and she floods and burns down the library - at the same time.

I had received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review. after listening to the book, I can no longer say that I am unbiased. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to 'Enter the Janitor'. The story was well written with an engaging plot, wonderful character progression, the action scenes grabbed my attention and kept me excited, and the entire book had a hefty dose of hilarity. Michael Gilboe did an excellent job of bringing the each character to life and keeping his performance engaging and locking in my interest.
Josh Vogt has been added to my watch list and if the next few books I read are as good as this one, he'll be upgraded to the 'must read list'.

Historia
Detective Jake Daggers likes his murder investigations the way he likes his women - straightforward, easy, and with a killer body. So when his older-than-dust partner throws his back out on a goblin raid, his captain assigns him a new running mate - a sexy young half-elf by the name of Shay Steele. It seems like a match made in Daggers' imagination, but Steele's no pushover. She's a powerful forensic psychic, and she's got sass oozing out of her boots. In a debut case teeming with fire mages, foundries, and a dead guy who's crispier than bacon, it's pretty clear Daggers isn't the only one getting a heaping helping of RED HOT STEELE.

A lot of fun

I very much enjoyed Red Hot Steel. I look at three things in a mystery audio book: quality of the story, quality of the performance, and how well the mystery puzzle was presented to the reader.
I think the quality of the story was very good. The characters were engaging, the pace was fast, keeping me interested, and the dialog was a lot of fun. I was surprised by, but very much enjoyed, the '30s style noir feel of the writing, even though the story is in a fantasy setting.
The audio performance was OK. The book was narrated by the author and he did a good job of giving voice to the main character, but he had trouble doing the same for most of the other characters. The performance never bored me and I was never confused as to who was speaking (issues I have had with lower quality performances) but I think a professional voice actor would have put a much better polish on the performance.
The real fun of a mystery book is trying to guess whodunnit before the author's big reveal. I give bonus points if the author gives all the facts to solve the mystery throughout the book, but can still successfully mislead me. This puzzle was a decent one. Mr Berg did a good job of introducing the puzzle pieces in a subtle way, but he didn't get any bonus points. He made the mistake of strongly drawing the reader'/listener's attention to the murderer when he introduced the character and then ignoring them for most of the rest of the book, which made me wonder why he introduced that character at all.
I have recommended Red Hot Steel to friends and will definitely purchase more books in this series as my budget allows.

The Puns! the PUNS!!!!!
Revisado: 01-26-16
What was one of the most memorable moments of Working Stiff?
Regrettably memorable: the Christmas puns. I had no idea that there were so many ways to mock Santa.Cheerfully memorable: The Dirty Harry impression. Michael Gilboe obviously has a lot of fun with the last story doing the 'Hairy Harry' character.
Was Working Stiff worth the listening time?
I listened to this while driving to and from work. My options are usually news radio, political talk radio, music stations that have been playing the same stuff for years and audiobooks. I found it lightly entertaining for that purpose and didn't feel any desire to go to another option. However, I also had no desire to listen to it outside of my car.
Any additional comments?
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com.I am a fan of Mr. Anderson's novels, but this is the first of the working stiff books that I had tried. I was excited to try this one out. For the most part I found it lightly entertaining for my daily commute, but I probably won't be getting any more working stiff stories. Mr. Anderson comes off as trying too hard to be funny. I enjoy puns quite a bit and I know he can write a enticing yarn, but this falls flat too often with everything being forced.
