Interesting book, if a little outdated
Revisado: 04-28-25
This book was really interesting to listen to, and I felt like I learned a lot!
However, the content seems a little outdated, and I believe a newer edition might do some good to this book!

Historia
i>Imagined Communities, Benedict Anderson's brilliant book on nationalism, forged a new field of study when it first appeared in 1983. Since then it has sold over a quarter of a million copies and is widely considered the most important book on the subject. In this greatly anticipated revised edition, Anderson updates and elaborates on the core question: What makes people live and die for nations, as well as hate and kill in their names?

Such poor narration for otherwise interesting book
Revisado: 04-16-25
I listen to a lot of audiobooks, but this is definitely the one with the worse narration I've ever listened to.
I should've buy the physical book instead of listening to this one.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

On the Social Contract's appeal and influence has been wide-ranging and continuous. It has been called an encomium to democracy and, at the same time, a blueprint for totalitarianism. Individualists, collectivists, anarchists, and socialists have all taken courage from Rousseau's controversial masterpiece.

Terrible narrator

This is one of the most influential books of all times, and still the narrator sounds bored, tired and uninterested in reading.
One of the worst audiobooks I read this year, and that's a shame.

Mostly good... until the last chapter
Revisado: 12-02-24
The book is great. As a physics enthusiastic, I found the book very compelling and interesting.
I really appreciated Tegmark's definitions of the level 1-4 multiverses.
I really did not like the last chapter that difflated from physics to politics and environmentalism.
Overall, a good and interesting book!

After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset. In this brilliant book, she describes how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset.

Historia
The father of three sons, a journalist, and a Brookings Institution scholar, Richard V. Reeves has spent twenty-five years worrying about boys both at home and work. His new book, Of Boys and Men, tackles the complex and urgent crisis of boyhood and manhood. Reeves looks at the structural challenges that face boys and men and offers fresh and innovative solutions that turn the page on the corrosive narrative that plagues this issue. Of Boys and Men argues that helping the other half of society does not mean giving up on the ideal of gender equality.

Can a book really change your perspective?
Revisado: 08-27-23
Yes, Yes, and once again - yes!
I learned so much from this book. As a man living in the modern world, I feel like the institutions that control my life are not matching the expectations from me as a family member and as a spouse to my wife. This book reassured me that my problems are real and that I have the strength and tools to deal with them. I will try moving forward to make some of the changes suggested in this book for my own life, even if they are not yet implemented in my surrounding institutes.
