Historia
With this first book in Russell Brand’s Trickster Tales series, the famed comedian, actor, and best-selling author delivers a hilarious retelling of an old fairytale favorite that will appeal to adults and children alike. Maybe you’ve heard about the Pied Piper before, with his strange music and those pompous townspeople and pesky rats. Or maybe you haven’t. But one thing is for sure: you’ve never heard it quite like this.

Wow! What a whimsical world Russell Brand creates!
Revisado: 11-11-14
What did you like best about this story?
Fanciful story and lyrical language give a timeless quality to this classic fable. Russell Brand narrates with a sense of wonder and wisdom, calmly pointing out noble lessons such as patience, cooperation, acceptance, connectivity, and mindfulness, amid toilet humor for the potty-mouthed children. My review cannot do justice to this unique tale.

Historia
In Atonement, three children lose their innocence, as the sweltering summer heat bears down on the hottest day in 1935, and their lives are changed forever. Cecilia Tallis is of England's priviledged class; Robbie Turner is the housekeeper's son. In their moment of intimate surrender, they are interrupted by Cecilia's hyperimaginative and scheming 13-year-old sister, Briony. And as chaos consumes the family, Briony commits a crime, the guilt of which she shall carry throughout her life.

Strong characters with unique ways of thinking
Revisado: 10-29-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Atonement to be better than the print version?
This book was easy to listen to and didn't have too many characters that would need to be looked up in a book.
What other book might you compare Atonement to and why?
This book was very unique in that it had a twist mid-book and then jumped from adolescence to adulthood suddenly, so it was almost like two different books. The first half was like a coming of age novel, and the second half was all war and gore.
Have you listened to any of Jill Tanner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first. She had a nice voice.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The opening scenes introducing Briony writing her play really painted a believable portrait of a quirky young girl.
Any additional comments?
The second half of the book and whole theme of atonement fell flat with me and seemed forced.

Historia
Nora and Dora, the 'famous' Chance sisters, prepare to go to their perennially absent father's 100th birthday party. With a wide and colourful, often rather crazy cast, the story veers off in a multitude of directions as Dora's reminiscent narrative slips from past to present suddenly and seamlessly throughout. The illegitimate 'bastard' Chance twins are the black sheep of the family. The all-singing, all-dancing, sweary, aging, make-up caked, high-heeled, bawdy, gritty and overall magnetic Chance twins, that is.

Unique vaudeville world and engaging reader
Revisado: 10-29-12
If you could sum up Wise Children in three words, what would they be?
bizarre
seedy
glamorous
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
There were a lot of characters and backstory, not such an eventful plot.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the twin girls meet their uncle for the first time and he charms them with a magic trick.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When the twins met their real father and were not acknowledged.
Any additional comments?
I had a hard time keeping track of all the characters in the extended family and caring about them. The tone and setting were very unique, and made the book interesting
