Historia
Mara Altman, author of the best-selling Kindle Single Sparkle, returns to top comic form to address the problem every woman faces but no woman wants to acknowledge: facial and body hair. Her brave, witty memoir gives readers a rare, honest glimpse into the hidden world of lasers and razors. It begins in childhood, when Altman discovers that hair sometimes grows in unexpected places - and that it's best to remove it immediately, or risk ridicule from 8th-grade girls. It continues into early adulthood, when romantically inclined men make offhand remarks about her fine coating of fur.

Hilarious pursuit to be less hirsuit
Revisado: 05-23-13
Would you consider the audio edition of Bearded Lady to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version, but I think I would have preferred to listen. I like Mara's voice, and I wish she would narrate other works as well!
Have you listened to any of Mara Altman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not yet, but intend to do so!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed at parts, and all in all related to her anxiety and struggle with hairiness. As a woman of eastern European descent myself, I've had my fair share of mortifying and memorable moments in my effort to remove unwanted hair.
Any additional comments?
This book was an enjoyable listen, and I definitely recommend it. It tackled the sensitive issue of women's body image in a clever and funny way, without being preachy.

Historia
Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Five hours of standup!
Revisado: 08-17-12
Where does Bossypants rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Very highly! It was one of the first audiobooks that I've listened to, and now I am reviewing it following my second listen. I love that Tina narrates it herself, and I laughed a ton.
What other book might you compare Bossypants to and why?
Well, I have heard that Chelsea Handler's "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea" is along the same vein, but I haven't listened to it yet. Bossypants is a lot like listening to standup, and Audible has some great standup recordings, so I guess I could compare it to those.
What about Tina Fey’s performance did you like?
I loved that she was so open and honest, I appreciated the self deprecating humor. It was really neat hearing her talk about celebrities as her peers (Alec Baldwin, Lorne Michaels, etc.), so one could get a bit of insight into their lives as well as her own.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Actually what I liked a lot about the book is that since she describes several different events in her life, it was easy to stop and start without getting lost. I didn't feel like I was forced to keep listening all at once at the risk of forgetting an important plot point.

Historia
Meet Peter Brown, a young Manhattan emergency room doctor with an unusual past that is just about to catch up with him. His morning begins with the quick disarming of a would-be mugger, followed by a steamy elevator encounter with a sexy young pharmaceutical rep, topped off by a visit with a new patient - and from there Peter's day is going to get a whole lot worse and a whole lot weirder.

A Great Listen!
Revisado: 08-16-12
Would you listen to Beat the Reaper again? Why?
I would definitely listen again, and recommend it to my friends. It's a book you can really get lost in, and I found myself listening for hours at a time, rather than my usual half hour or so. I was only disappointed that end fell a little flat for me. After an amazing climax, it just kind of... ended. Guess I have to pick up with the sequel.
What did you like best about this story?
It was a great story, but what really caught my attention was the amazing sound mixing done to accompany the narration. In the aquarium scene you can hear the characters' voices echo, and the sound of the lapping of water against the tanks. In the fight scenes there is thrilling music to keep you on the edge of your seat. I was so impressed!
Which character – as performed by Robert Petkoff – was your favorite?
I would have to say that Pietro/Peter was my favorite, because he had the most character development (as the main character and narrator).
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Hm, not sure, I'm not that creative! Maybe... "A Doctor with a dark past... a past that has just caught up with him." That's kinda lame. Oh well. However, I hear they are making this a movie and I can't wait to see it!
