Historia
Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. His classmates and teachers are dead, rotting in a dormitory-turned-morgue steps from his room. The nights are getting colder, and his food has run out. The last message from his father is to get away from the city and to meet at his grandparents' town in remote New Hampshire.

Good narration, story line seems plausible..
Revisado: 10-13-21
I had a couple sticky points with this book. There are very few people left but the characters complain about how there's no toilet paper. (sounds familiar!) This is, with so many dead so few alive, there is toilet paper in every gas station, corner store, shopping center.. Everywhere.. Number 2. (no pun intended) There are wild animals and scummy criminal survivors of this plague, yet the characters say things like "We don't need guns, besides there's no ammo anywhere" (There's likely even more ammo available than there is toilet paper!) And "Why do you feel the need to have a gun, we're safe here".. And wouldn't you know it? They're able to talk their way out of every bad situation! Amazingly soft hearted villains I guess.

Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

I was looking forward to this, Michael York has a great voice. If he had kept to reading and laid off the cartoonish voices, I could have finished this classic. Sadly, it's time to close this one..

Great narration!
Revisado: 01-05-21
I was a bit skeptical about the narration at first, but soon settled down into his rhythm. I heard *one* small mistake throughout all three books but I'm pretty sure it was a screwed up edit rather than a reading error and I ended up feeling like a close friend was telling me this story. I'll be looking for some more Kevin Pierce.. Regarding the trilogy? It was well researched, well planned (I would love to read just the outline of this project!) and told in a very visual manner. When you *see* the floating case of Jack Daniels going down the river, the author has done his job. There were elements of Alas, Babylon, One Second Later, Lights Out (of course) and a few other dystopian readings. I highly suggest this book. (If you plan on sharing this between your phone and an Echo Dot, make sure to keep them synced or a nightmare will ensue!)
Enjoy!!

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Decades after Richard Ramirez left 13 dead and paralyzed the city of Los Angeles, his name is still synonymous with fear, torture, and sadistic murder. Philip Carlo's classic The Night Stalker, based on years of meticulous research and extensive interviews with Ramirez, revealed the killer and his horrifying crimes to be even more chilling than anyone could have imagined. The story of Ramirez is a bizarre and spellbinding descent into the very heart of human evil.

I recall this story being in the news years ago, but this book opened the skies and let it all fall down. Thank God Ramirez was caught and convicted.. I love the narrators work, but I ended up slowing the narration down to .90, it really helped. Glad I spent the point for this one..

Historia
Norman Mailer's Pulitzer Prize-winning and unforgettable classic about convicted killer Gary Gilmore now in audio. Arguably the greatest book from America's most heroically ambitious writer, The Executioner's Song follows the short, blighted life of Gary Gilmore who became famous after he robbed two men in 1976 and killed them in cold blood. After being tried and convicted, he immediately insisted on being executed for his crime. To do so, he fought a system that seemed intent on keeping him alive long after it had sentenced him to death.

Great story, excellent writing, but the narrator??
Revisado: 10-28-20
This is a well researched book with a great writer and a terrible narrator. Mega thanks to those who suggested bumping up the speed to 1.25, it really did make a difference. So why can't the Maxwell Hamilton person pronounce the word "corollary?" Or "Aquinas"?? Or, omg, Geraldo Rivera? Jeraldo?? Or the famous attorney Marvin "BELLY".. Or Claudine LonGET (hard G)?? And the real questions are these; WHO hires these people and are there NO editors/producers/directors? I get the feeling that this guy was told "Here's your studio, it's all yours, see you in 2 weeks".. Pretty sad. On the upside, the story is well written, and murderer that he was, Gilmore was a well read, intelligent guy with an artistic streak. My next purchase with be Mikal Gilmore's book. Something seriously bad happened in that family. And Maxxy baby, get a different job or at least do a few minutes of research and find out how the people you are reading about pronounce their names..

In the number-one New York Times best seller Mindhunter, John Douglas, who headed the FBI's elite Investigative Support Unit, told the story of his brilliant and terrifying career tracking down some of the most heinous criminals in history. Now, in Journey into Darkness, Douglas profiles vicious serial killers, rapists, and child molesters. He is straightforward, blunt, often irreverent, and outspoken, but takes pains not to glorify any of these murderers.

First time in audio format, started out annoying..
Revisado: 02-04-20
I've read this in hardcover twice, but wanted to go through it again while on the road. At first the narrators voice was annoying, it was light and airy and sounded like maybe he needed to take a drink of water. It stopped being annoying when I realized how perfectly Mr. Campbell was reading this book, his meter/cadence/timing was perfect throughout the entire book. Perfect pauses at commas, perfect emphasis where needed, just extremely well read. Worth the credit!
